Round 6 Results:

Swansea FC 3-2 Mayfield United
University FC 5-4 Cardiff City
Newcastle Suns 4-1 Jesmond FC
Warners Bay 3-2 Dudley-Redhead USFC
Kotara South 3-3 Beresfield United

Round-Up:

A very entertaining game played out at Ray Watt Oval on Saturday as bottom-placed University picked up their first win of the season with a 5-4 victory over Cardiff City. The win draws Uni level with a struggling Mayfield side that fell to a 3-2 away loss to Swansea on Saturday.

Elsewhere, the high-flying Suns recorded their fifth win in six games as they beat Jesmond 4-1, Warners Bay got a big 3-2 win over Dudley and Kotara and Beresfield couldn't be separated in a 3-3 draw. Bero remain unbeaten but pick up their third draw to go with three wins.

This Week & Weekend:

There's action midweek for two ZPL sides in the Westfield FFA Cup. Cardiff City travel to Macquarie Field to tackle NPL side Lake Macquarie City. Can Cardiff pick up a big upset to head to the June long weekend national qualifiers? Also, the high-flying Suns will take on 4th-placed Valentine from the NPL. The Suns believe they can do it but it's a big ask at Connolly Park. Both games at 7pm on Wednesday night.

The top four will all meet each other on Sunday. 2nd placed Dudley host 4th placed Swansea whilst 3rd placed Beresfield look to remain unbeaten as they host the ladder-leading Suns.

In Saturday games, Cardiff play Jesmond, Mayfield host Kotara South and University are at Ray Watt once again against Warners Bay.

Zone League One:

Round 6 Results:

Morisset United 2-2 Charlestown
Stockton 5-4 Garden Suburb
Raymond Terrace 3-0 Westlakes Wildcats
Cooks Hill 2-3 Barnsley
Wallsend FC 2-2 Beresfield FC

Round-Up:

Barnsley continued their form start to the season with a gutsy win at the AthField. The 3-2 win over Cooks Hill takes the Bulldogs to outright top of the league.

That result was overshadowed by a thrilling nine-goal game over on the peninsula. Stockton denied Garden Suburb a chance to move to 13 points to keep the top five very tight with a 5-4 victory at Corroba Oval.

Elsewhere, Raymond Terrace picked up their first win, a 3-0 victory over Westlakes, Morisset drew 2-2 with a Charlestown side that picked up their first point of the season and Wallsend and Beresfield could not be separated. ZL1 is an exciting comp this season. You could throw a blanket over the top half of the table.

Elsewhere, Westlakes will be up for a test against Cooks Hill, Beresfield look to knock off Garden Suburb and Wallsend host Morisset on Sunday.
