PREVIEW: The Herald WPL Season 2016 + Round 1 Fixtures

The Herald Women's Premier League returns this Sunday with games across three different locations. There's a lot of recognisable names across the seven clubs (Valentine have pulled out) and it's sure to be a highly competitive season.
Adamstown have picked up a big name in Rhali Dobson, Merewether have a strong squad looking to go back to back, W-League Jets Jenna Kingsley and Libby Copus-Brown have joined Wallsend FC, Hannah Brewer is at South Wallsend, Mid North Coast are back and have a decent squad with a big home field advantage and Warners Bay FC have Leon Davis as coach with his daughter and Jets star Cassidy Davis in the squad. Thornton Redbacks round out the competition and will be a tough side to beat.
Every week there'll be four games across the grounds in the Women's Premier League. Under 14's start at 9:30am, Under 16's at 11:00am, Under 18's at 12:30pm and 1st Grade at 2:15pm. Newysports will try and get all the results and ladders from each grade and put a little bit more attention on our region's top female competition.
With a lot of talent and a lot of W-League Jets spread out around the club, get out and support your local team in the WPL. Good luck to all the girls this weekend and for the season.
