PREVIEW: FFA Cup Round 3 Midweek Games

FFA Cup Round 3
Jesmond F.C (ZL1) v Belmont-Swansea United (New-FM)
Blacksmiths Oval
Tuesday 15/3-7:00pm

The Rams made a special cup run last year and they will book a spot in a second-straight June qualifying weekend if they overcome an in-form Belmont-Swansea side. The test is there for Jesmond and it's made more difficult in the fact that they'll be the home team on Belswans' ground.

I can't say much about Jesmond's pre-season form as I haven't heard anything but their previous FFA Cup game was a test of their resiliency as they overcame promoted ZPL side Morisset United in a penalty shootout. This week's match is a much bigger test; against in-form Belmont-Swansea.

Belswans overcame West Wallsend on the weekend, scoring three goals in the process in a game where they should have scored at least seven or eight. This followed a Round 1 win over premiership hopefuls Lake Macquarie City and if they play in a similar style they will overcome Jesmond. Backing up three days after a game is tough but they've got my backing to get the job done.

My Tip: Jesmond F.C 1-4 Belmont-Swansea Utd

 FFA Cup Round 3
West Wallsend SFC (New-FM) v Thornton Redbacks (New-FM)
Johnston Park
Wednesday 16/3-7:00pm

West Wallsend know all about the June qualifying weekend and they'll be going back there with a win over Thornton on Wednesday night. I do know that the club is mainly focused on the New-FM league so I'm not sure what to expect from them against Thornton on Wednesday.

The Redbacks were 1-0 losers to South Cardiff on the weekend but their cup form is decent and they'll like their chances of progressing with a win against the Bluebells. I've said it before, Thornton look a decent side on paper and they could very well come to Johnston Park and send the hosts packing. I could flip a coin to come up with my tip but it's Thornton just.

My Tip: West Wallsend 1-2 Thornton Redbacks
