PART 94: Grimsby Career Mode-FIFA 17

The Emirates FA Cup-Round 4-Saturday 18th February 2023
Tottenham (E.Lamela) 1 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (M.Dembele x3 & F.Thauvin) 4
New White Hart Lane
Crowd: 60,401

Ty Stedman-"Amazing. What else do you say. We haven't produced an FA Cup performance like that since in five or six years. This was the same competition that we crashed out of last season to Fleetwood Town. With respect to Fleetwood, Tottenham are much tougher task.

To come here and produce this result is not easy. Moussa Dembele though made it look easy. His first start in two months and he gets a match-winning hat-trick. I can't ask any more of him. That goal at the end, yes it was into an empty net but from his own half he bombed it into the goal to seal his third goal. Amazing performance all round."

EFL Cup Final v Chelsea

Ty Stedman-"Let's be real here. The EFL Cup isn't as big as the FA Cup. We all know that. But this competition for us is everything. I'm constantly amazed at what we've done here in the past seven years.

We've built ourselves up from the very bottom and six years ago we were on the verge of the FA Cup Final. We missed out and we haven't been anywhere near a cup Semi Final since then, until now. To get the club its first ever major final is absolutely incredible but we want to win this.

There's something about Wembley Stadium. It's an incredible venue steeped in history both at the old and new Wembley. This could be our fans' greatest day, our club's greatest day and the biggest party to ever hit the streets of Grimsby. We are going to do everything we can to bring this one home."

EFL Cup-Final-Sunday 26th February 2023
Grimsby Town 0 def by. CHELSEA (B.Traore) 1
Wembley Stadium
Crowd: 88,452

Ty Stedman-"It's heartbreak. Honestly. I haven't had time to put the words together. If it were 4-0 and over a while ago maybe but we were right in it until the very end and it's only just hitting me and indeed the team that we've fallen short.

I couldn't have asked for a greater performance. As soon as we went down we turned it around and we were the better team but it just wasn't to be. We worked our asses off for the lack of a better term and gave blood, sweat and tears for the club's first trophy. It's heartbreak but we'll be back. They say you have to lose one to win one. The FA Cup is still a big chance for us."

Premier League-Matchday 26-Tuesday 28th February 2023
Grimsby Town (V.Van Dijk-OG & J.Ibe) 2 drew. Southampton (S.Schrijvers & H.Reed) 2
Blundell Park
Crowd: 9,041

Ty Stedman-"No I can't really hide my disappointment. Yes we scored two goals, yes Southampton played well enough to threaten us but to concede in stoppage time and blow a 2-1 lead at home is nothing but frustrating. We've played and beaten Southampton three times in three months but they found a way to stop us tonight.

Obviously it was a short turn-around from the emotion of Sunday's EFL Cup Final but we have decent squad depth and it's simple, we blew a lead in the final seconds. You can't afford to do that when you're locked in a title race with Arsenal and Chelsea. It's frustrating."

Premier League-Matchday 27-Sunday 4th March 2023
MANCHESTER UNITED (J.McCarthy x2, H.Ziyech & A.Milik) 4 def. Grimsby Town (M.Dembele) 1
Old Trafford
Crowd: 75,293

Ty Stedman-"Sometimes you get a day like today. Everton came to Blundell Park not too long ago and beat us 5-0. Today, we played well enough at times but defensively we had no answers and even when we did work out what we were doing at the back, United toyed with us. They were superb today.

We were looking for a big turn-around after the last minute draw with Southampton but it wasn't to be. Sometimes you just get outplayed and that was us today. Arsenal lost to Chelsea so now it's a three teams within two points of each other at the top. We're disappointed today but I'm positive we'll turn it around."
