PART 93: Grimsby Career Mode-FIFA 17

Premier League-Matchday 23-Wednesday 1st February 2023
Grimsby Town 0 def by. ARSENAL (M.Elneny) 1
Blundell Park
Crowd: 9,051 (SOLD OUT)

Ty Stedman-"Effort-wise, I can't fault our effort. We tried so hard to turn that poor start around. Conceding a goal in the first ten minutes of a top-four game at home is just a killer blow and we couldn't come back from that blow unfortunately.

Arsenal have been hunting us down for weeks and after tonight's performance they are only four points behind. We knew it wasn't going to be easy and we're up for the battle. We do have to be careful because if our form slips we may drop out of the top four and that is the minimum target for us at the end of all this."

Premier League-Matchday 24-Saturday 4th February 2023
WATFORD (A.Penaranda) 1 def. Grimsby Town 0
Vicarage Road
Crowd: 21,322

Ty Stedman-"I'm severely disappointed. We can't afford to keep dropping points. Watford to their credit deserved the win but we knew what the job was coming here, we knew Penaranda was the one to watch out for and he was ironically the one who ended up making the difference.

The rivalry we've had with Watford over the years I've been here has been fantastic and again, they proved to have our number. Ultimately it leaves us just a point clear of Arsenal and really, we need to pick up a win over Sunderland up next just to re-install some winning confidence."

Premier League-Matchday 25-Saturday 11th February 2023
GRIMSBY TOWN (F.Thauvin & D.Sturridge) 2 def. Sunderland 0
Blundell Park
Crowd: 9,020

Ty Stedman-"Victories are always wonderful but after the last few league results we've produced, this was timely and it keeps us on top of the table. Even better than that, we've managed to gain some ground after Arsenal lost their match. It's a vital win going into a crucial part of the season.

Sunderland are in the relegation zone so with respect, we would have been disappointed not to pick up the three points on our home turf. We played brilliant football today; Florian Thauvin has been improving week by week and Daniel Sturridge put the icing on the cake."

UEFA Champions League-Round of 16-Tuesday 14th February 2023
GRIMSBY TOWN (Adama) 1 def. Bayern Munich 0
KCOM Stadium, Hull
Crowd: 24,982

Ty Stedman-"This team just keeps on surprising me. The way we played during the group stage, I knew we had a chance of victory but to produce a performance like that and record a vital clean sheet as well does wonders for our confidence. This is our biggest win of the season.

Bayern Munich are world-class opposition. There's not many European sides that outrank Bayern and to keep them grounded like we did shows that we believe we can get past them. The job isn't anywhere near finished. We have a mammoth trip to Munich next month and a chance to progress."
