PART 92: Grimsby Career Mode-FIFA 17

The Emirates FA Cup-Round 3 Replay-Wednesday 18th January 2023
Leeds United (A.Lagos & R.Poole-OG) 2 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (C.Taylor-OG, E.Collins & D.Sturridge-PEN) 3
Elland Road
Crowd: 33,467

Ty Stedman-"I'm not sure I've been involved in a cup fixture as crazy as this has been. Leeds had us on the ropes in the first game and we somehow survived and tonight, I'm not even sure how to describe it. Two own goals, a missed penalty, a converted penalty and just madness at the back for both teams.

Having Moussa Dembele and Trent Buhagiar out injured has forced a lot of work onto Daniel Sturridge and we weren't going to have him start yet again so Elliot Turner got thrown in up front. It was a very strange game for us but at the end of the night, we're just delighted to be progressing.

Joshua Bosetti on debut was absolutely fantastic. He isn't a big name but he was someone we were excited to bring in and now with Liam Rose, Bosetti and Jordan Rossiter, we have three classy holding midfielders and just a lot of options for that crucial area of the field."

Premier League-Matchday 22-Saturday 21st January 2023
Crystal Palace (D.Podence) 1 drew. Grimsby Town (D.Sturridge) 1
Selhurst Park
Crowd: 24,774

Ty Stedman-"Crystal Palace have been a thorn in our side for a few year's now and Podence always finds a way to score against us so a draw away from home probably isn't the worst result. We had a dominant opening period and got one but should have been up by two or three so there is definitely some disappointment.

After the madness of the Leeds game, it was nice to be able to settle back into a typical Premier League fixture. We had Florian Thauvin out there on debut as well, coming into replace Jordan Allen who has secured a big transfer to his dream club Liverpool so we all wish him the very best."

EFL Cup-Semi Final 2nd Leg-Tuesday 24th January 2023
Southampton 0 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (E.Turner-PEN) 1
St Mary's Stadium
Crowd: 31,892

Ty Stedman-"We've had some monumental moments over the past few seasons and this one is definitely up there. We couldn't fail after what happened against Watford five years ago now. We've come too far to not get into the final and the penalty early on settled our nerves and let us build the foundations for the win.

It's a proud moment to take Grimsby Town to its first ever major cup final. It's a journey we've had to fight tooth and nail to get through and now we have a date at Wembley with Chelsea next month. The club's never won a major trophy in nearly 150 years so this is definitely something we want to win."

The Emirates FA Cup-Round 4-Saturday 28th January 2023
QPR 0 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (Oscar-PEN) 1
Loftus Road
Crowd: 18,408

Ty Stedman-"Firstly, wow. Another crazy cup game. Luck hasn't been with us over the years in these cup fixtures but this season is different. We had the better of the play but QPR came roaring home and smashed the crossbar not once but twice in the early part of stoppage time.

Then just, what do you say, we hit them with the ultimate sucker punch. Straight onto the counter attack and unfortunately for QPR they gave away a penalty as Oscar was about to wind up and shoot. Oscar buried it and we're on our way to the next round. It's great not to have to worry about fitting a replay fixture into our already busy schedule."
