PART 91: Grimsby Career Mode-FIFA 17

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Premier League-Matchday 20-Tuesday 3rd January 2023
Grimsby Town 0 def by. MANCHESTER CITY (M.Salah) 1
Blundell Park
Crowd: 9,051 (SOLD OUT)

Ty Stedman-"Manchester City are a top opposition but really we can't be anything but disappointed with conceding a goal in the 89th minute. We were happy to leave with a point and I thought we did enough to warrant leaving with a point but we just had a lapse at the end.

Those dropped two points are costly as Liverpool and Chelsea both dropped points. We could have stretched our lead but it wasn't to be and after the madness of the 7-0 win last time out, it's disappointing to start the new year with a loss."

The Emirates FA Cup-Round 3-Saturday 7th January 2023
Grimsby Town (T.Buhagiar-PEN) 1 drew. Leeds United (M.Antonsson) 1
Blundell Park
Crowd: 9,051 (SOLD OUT)

Ty Stedman-"It's safe to say we survived today. Whether we were complacent or what not I'm not sure but we allowed Leeds to completely dominate us in the 2nd half and we're very lucky to be able to take this back to Elland Road and try again because they deserved the win in my opinion.

It's another disappointing cup performance. I'm not sure why but we never really hit our straps during cup games. We're still alive in the EFL Semi Finals and that's coming up but this is the FA Cup and we should be producing better football against a team like Leeds United. We couldn't afford to allow them to dominate and luckily for us, they didn't find their goalscoring boots today."

EFL Cup-Semi Final 1st Leg-Tuesday 10th January 2023
GRIMSBY TOWN (M.Cruz) 1 def. Southampton 0
Blundell Park
Crowd: 9,051 (SOLD OUT)

Ty Stedman-"It was unfortunately for us a very similar game to the Leeds match the other day. We were poor and outplayed and I guess you could say, fortunately, we somehow didn't lose. Football is about taking chances and Southampton for my money didn't make us pay throughout for our mistakes.

That aside, this was the 1st leg of the EFL Cup Semi Final and we wanted to do everything we could to take an advantage back to Southampton. Miguel Cruz grabbed a rare goal and even though we were outplayed on the night, we are taking a 1-0 advantage into the next meeting."

Premier League-Matchday 21-Saturday 14th January 2023
Newcastle United (A.Armstrong-PEN & I.Kahveci) 2 drew. Grimsby Town (T.Krul-OG & D.Sturridge) 2
St James' Park
Crowd: 51,221

Ty Stedman-"I'll sound like I'm disappointed and I am. We blew a 2-1 lead and blew a chance to extend our lead at the top of the table. We can't accept that. The draw isn't a bad result away from home but when you're up with ten minutes to go, three points is a must, especially in this league.

The main positive for us today had to be our newest signing Jordan Rossiter. He stepped into the holding mid role and got Man of the Match. You couldn't have asked for a better debut and we may have one or two more signings to come so it's definitely nice to be able to boost our squad depth at this key stage of the season."
