PART 90: Grimsby Career Mode-FIFA 17

Premier League-Matchday 16-Saturday 17th December 2022
Southampton 0 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (M.Dembele) 1
St Mary's Stadium
Crowd: 30,734

Ty Stedman-"We came into today's game wanting to build on what we produced last week against Manchester United. It's easy to notice that when you're flying high on top of the league, it makes you a target. Southampton were decent today so we really had to work hard to get this result.

Obviously our selections varied with Sturridge on the bench and Buhagiar starting. It's not saying Sturridge isn't doing his job, we started Trent because it was his 300th game for the club today which is a special milestone. He got the assist for Moussa Dembele's goal which is an nice way to mark such a big occasion."

Premier League-Matchday 17-Thursday 22nd December 2022
GRIMSBY TOWN (Oscar & T.Buhagiar) 2 drew. Chelsea (M.Van Ginkel x2) 2
Blundell Park
Crowd: 9,051 (SOLD OUT)

Ty Stedman-"The words season-defining game don't really resonate with me that much but tonight was different. We had our backs against the wall, chasing Chelsea twice from behind and with literally seconds of stoppage time left, we somehow got a goal that kept us seven points clear at the top.

Chelsea are in my mind the best team in the league and really made us work tonight. A loss wouldn't have hurt us badly but coming back and getting a dramatic late draw just makes me start to think that maybe we're a title contender. We'd like to think ourselves as a contender but consistency is key and if we keep this sort of form going, anything could happen."

Premier League-Matchday 18-Monday 26th December 2022
Hull City 0 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (M.Odegaard x2) 2
KCOM Stadium
Crowd: 23,488

Ty Stedman-"The Christmas period is always a vital time to pick up points and today's game was just an all-round solid performance. This is a local derby of sorts for us and Hull City really wanted to knock us off our perch so to speak. We had a few resting after the Chelsea game and the likes of Martin Odegaard really stepped up.

With the other results, we're now nine points clear at the top of the table and it's now the halfway point of the season. It's what we wanted from the first half of the year. It gives us a huge platform to build on and to not finish inside the top four would be a severe disappointment."

Premier League-Matchday 19-Saturday 31st December 2022
GRIMSBY TOWN (T.Buhagiar x6 & Oscar) 7 def. Brighton & Hove Albion 0
Blundell Park
Crowd: 9,040

Ty Stedman-"Well what on Earth is a manager supposed to say after that. We've never hit more than four goals in seven seasons and I've always known we were capable of a performance like this. Brighton are in freefall and really, in a game like this, we have to be ruthless.

I didn't see it coming. 2-0 at half-time and then the two quickfire penalties and Brighton unfortunately for their diehard fans just crumbled. Trent Buhagiar broke a Premier League scoring record with his six goals. Truly an amazing day for our club captain. I don't think I've ever seen an individual performance like that.

What you saw today was a perfect performance. I think we've signalled our intentions that we are well and truly aiming for the title this season. We're well in the race and we've just produced probably the greatest result this club will ever see."
