PART 88: Grimsby Career Mode-FIFA 17

Premier League-Matchday 11-Sunday 6th November 2022
GRIMSBY TOWN (T.Buhagiar x2) 2 def. Liverpool (S.Ojo) 1
Blundell Park
Crowd: 9,051 (SOLD OUT)

Ty Stedman-"We had a lot of build up coming into this one, mostly from major media sources. 2nd v 3rd and a chance for us to really complete what has been a fantastic start to the season. Daniel Sturridge is of course missing with injury so we had to look elsewhere after he got us over the line twice against his old side last season.

Liverpool took the lead early but we knuckled down. A home loss in such a big game wasn't going to be the end result. We wanted more than that. Trent Buhagiar fired us level, getting onto the end of a brilliant pass from Adama on the right flank.

And it's no secret that we haven't always made the most of the late chances but today we took it to another level. Buhagiar got a double, Man of the Match and we move four points clear in 2nd place. We couldn't ask for more heading into an international break."

Premier League-Matchday 12-Saturday 19th November 2022
Tottenham (C.Eriksen) 1 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (T.Buhagiar x2 & M.Odegaard) 2
New White Hart Lane
Crowd: 60,342

Ty Stedman-"It says a lot about a team's spirit when you produce two brilliant comebacks in the space of two games. We never say die and it's been on show as of late. Trent Buhagiar has four goals in two games and with Martin Odegaard's goal, we simply blew Tottenham away in the second half.

Liam Rose was sent off at 1-1 and somehow we really clicked with ten men. I would have been happy with a draw but we took on the might of Spurs and we came away with the biggest three points of the season as we've now moved to the top of the league."

UEFA Champions League-Matchday 5-Wednesday 23rd November 2022
GRIMSBY TOWN (T.Buhagiar x2 & D.Sturridge) 3 def. Athletico Madrid 0
KCOM Stadium, Hull
Crowd: 23,766

Ty Stedman-"Apart from Ben Gibson's send off late on, there's literally nothing bad I can say about tonight's performance. We knew the situation. We needed to win to stay in the race for the final 16 and we did just that. I took the risk of starting Trent Buhagiar ahead of Daniel Sturridge although at this stage it doesn't look like much of a risk does it.

We have three brilliant strikers and only two start each week. Daniel understands that and when Trent bags another double and gets another Man of the Match to continue what is the best month of his career, you simply cannot start him on the bench.

This was a monumental night for the club. To beat one of the best teams in world football and to do it 3-0, albeit against ten men after the early penalty, it's just showing that we're believing we can get to the knockout stage. A win away to Benfica in the last group game will send us to the final 16."

Premier League-Matchday 13-Saturday 19th November 2022
Grimsby Town 0 def by. EVERTON (S.Tarashaj x2, Cafu, H.Son & K.Dowell) 5
Blundell Park
Crowd: 9,024

Ty Stedman-"I'm not sure what to say. It wasn't exactly our worst performance but we were gunned down convincingly by a team that just didn't miss their shots. It is the heaviest loss we've suffered in the 6 years I've been at this club. And I'm not really sure how to process it.

We played some decent football at times but the football gods decided that today just wasn't our day. 5-0 isn't a true reflection of how the game played but it's how it went and we have to take a day or two just to go through it and analyse just how things went so wrong. Ironically we're still top of the league after Arsenal downed United but we're aiming for a big improvement next time out."
