PART 87: Grimsby Career Mode-FIFA 17

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Premier League-Matchday 9-Sunday 23rd October 2022
GRIMSBY TOWN (M.Dembele) 1 def. Newcastle United 0
Blundell Park
Crowd: 9,004

Ty Stedman-"Our momentum is definitely rolling on. Whilst we controlled the game, we didn't really bury chances like we've done this season so Newcastle stayed in it and we needed to work hard towards the back end of the game to keep all three points.

It's not unfamiliar territory sitting in 2nd spot as we've really made our status as a quality club come to fruition these past few years but as each week goes by, our confidence goes up that this could be the year we actually lift some silverware. Maybe not the Premier League but the domestic cups will be vital. We've got Sunderland midweek in the EFL Cup and we're not going to settle for another disappointing early exit."

EFL Cup-Round 4-Wednesday 26th October 2022
GRIMSBY TOWN (T.Buhagiar x2, M.Dembele & Adama) 4 def. Sunderland (J.Asoro & J.Rodwell) 2 after Extra Time
Blundell Park
Crowd: 8,867

Ty Stedman-"There's definitely mixed feelings about our performance. We scored four goals but we conceded two poor goals against the run of play and made the job so much more difficult than it really should have been. Sunderland punished some poor passing mishaps in midfield and we struggled at times to stay in the match.

Once we got to extra time we put on the likes of Adama and Moussa Dembele and pushed on to another level against a tiring defensive line. We grabbed two in extra time but probably could have grabbed three or four. It's nice to have that parachute I guess, the ability to bring on our big names but it would have been nice to win it in the 90 minutes."

Premier League-Matchday 10-Saturday 29th October 2022
MANCHESTER CITY (A.Silva & L.Sane) 2 def. Grimsby Town 0
Etihad Stadium
Crowd: 53,789

Ty Stedman-"We can't hide from the result today. We didn't show up and we were beaten fairly convincingly. Despite the scoreline only being 2-0, we never did enough to warrant a chance at leaving here with a good result. City should have won by five or six. We just lacked in the crucial areas.

There's not much else I can say. Most teams in this league will punish you if you produce the sort of football we produced today. It happens and we'll work towards erasing the errors from our game."

UEFA Champions League-Matchday 4-Tuesday 1st November 2022
Grimsby Town 0 def by. WOLFSBURG (J.Draxler & M.Simon) 2
KCOM Stadium, Hull
Crowd: 22,412

Ty Stedman-"Well it's another highly disappointing result for us. We were right on them in the first half and were unlucky not to convert some big chances. Daniel Sturridge's injury meant Trent Buhagiar started and he worked well up front but in the second half, our attacking trio were starved of the ball.

We had our destiny in our hands but threw it all away with that late second half performance. We could have drawn and probably been happy but a loss means we have to most likely win our last two group games to progress. It's not impossible but tonight's result makes our job a lot tougher."
