PART 86: Grimsby Career Mode-FIFA 17

UEFA Champions League-Matchday 2-Wednesday 28th September 2022
VfL Wolfsburg 0 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (J.Ibe) 1
Volkswagon Arena
Crowd: 25,967

Ty Stedman-"This is a phenomenal win for the club. The Champions League is the ultimate frontier and after coming from behind twice in Madrid, we've come here to Germany and beaten a quality team like Wolfsburg, away from home. These were the two toughest group stage openers we could have asked for and we've picked up four vital points.

The quality we have down the flanks like Jordan Ibe are such a valuable component of what this team does. Pace and class doesn't grow on trees so we're happy to have Jordan Ibe here and he had one of best games for us tonight. We weren't sure of our chances in this competition but qualifying for the final 16 is a real possibility."

Premier League-Matchday 7-Sunday 2nd October 2022
Swansea City (L.Fer) 1 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (L.Rose & M.Dembele) 2
Liberty Stadium
Crowd: 20,639

Ty Stedman-"It was important heading into an international break to produce the goods and wrap up three points away from home. We want to really make the most of our early season form and whilst it was nice to create a lot of first half chances, it would have been nicer to see us head in two or three goals ahead based on those opportunities.

Again Moussa Dembele has helped us to a win but Liam Rose also showed he can still pop up at the vital chances. He's the captain this season and is leading the way in the middle of midfield. It was a decent enough win and three points on the road is always a good way to head into a two-week break."

Premier League-Matchday 8-Saturday 15th October 2022
Leicester City 0 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (M.Odegaard, T.Buhagiar-PEN & Oscar) 3
King Power Stadium
Crowd: 31,784

Ty Stedman-"That was a superb performance. We fielded a different lineup than what we've used so far this season. Having guys like Martin Odegaard and Jordan Allen sitting on the bench helps us and of course Trent Buhagiar's goalscoring record is up there with any striker we have so he too is a handy one to bring in.

Leicester are a quality outfit but we outclassed them today and I couldn't have asked for more. We missed a couple of chances late on to stretch the scoreline. Obviously you can't be too displeased when we record a 3-0 win and importantly a clean sheet. We're sitting 2nd right behind Manchester United and we're playing some brilliant football too."

UEFA Champions League-Matchday 3-Wednesday 19th October 2022
Grimsby Town (D.Sturridge) 1 drew. Benfica (Rafa) 1
KCOM Stadium, Hull
Crowd: 22,231

Ty Stedman-"What a spectacular night for the club. It's a little bit of a downer to not be at our spiritual home of Blundell Park but we made the decision with advice from UEFA to move our home Champions League fixtures to this fantastic stadium. Hull City are a rival of ours but we're happy to rent this stadium and get over twenty thousand fans to our game.

Benfica are a massive club and we had them on the back foot in the first half. We didn't punish some of their poor turnovers and then they came out firing in the second half and grabbed the lead. We didn't want to lose on such a big night so I'm happy with a point at the end of it. Five points from three games in this competition is a big achievement for the club."
