PART 81: Grimsby Career Mode-FIFA 17

Premier League-Matchday 29-Wednesday 6th April 2022
GRIMSBY TOWN (M.Rojas) 1 def. Manchester City 0
Blundell Park
Crowd: 9,051 (SOLD OUT)

Ty Stedman-"I'd rate tonight as one of our best performances this season. Manchester City have been a difficult side for us to overcome in the meetings we've had with them over the past few years so to get past them tonight in solid fashion is a great way to enter a busy period for our club.

We kept their chances to a minimum with solid defending, especially the way we forced several turnovers in midfield. Every three points is vital and gets us a step closer to the Champions League. City are one of a few sides hunting a spot in the top four so no doubt, tonight's three points ranks higher than most we've got this season."

Premier League-Matchday 30-Saturday 9th April 2022
Chelsea 0 drew. Grimsby Town 0
Stamford Bridge
Crowd: 41,523

Ty Stedman-"Scoreless draws have been a common occurance for us over the time I've been here. Most often it ends with me wondering how we didn't score and win it but today is different. We came here expecting a challenge and honestly, I'm not sure how we didn't concede.

Chelsea totally outplayed us and only some brilliant goalkeeper from Mason Cox and some luck from the woodwork kept us in it. It drops us two points below Arsenal but it's a vital point as Chelsea are hot on our tails in 4th spot and no doubt they'll be furious with not getting the points today. We rode our luck and we'll happily take a point."

UEFA Europa League-Quarter Final 1st Leg-Thursday 14th April 2022
STADE RENNAIS (M.Benitez & A.Diakhaby) 2 def. Grimsby Town (J.Ibe) 1
Roazhon Park
Crowd: 27,967

Ty Stedman-"Tonight was a special night for me personally, marking 300 games in charge of the club but as you've all seen, things didn't exactly go to plan. We had a couple of key players out from our strongest lineup and formation-wise, it just didn't work tonight. They took a lead off the corner which is always a frustrating way to concede but Jordan Ibe equalised quickly.

The second half I thought was fairly lackadaisical. We looked like we wanted to settle for a draw and the chance to take a 1-1 scoreline back to England with us but they pounced. We were probably lucky not to have the score blow out to 3 or 4 towards the end. Still, we'll take the away goal and try and use it to our advantage next week."

Premier League-Matchday 31-Sunday 17th April 2022
STOKE CITY (F.Campos) 1 def. Grimsby Town 0
Bet365 Stadium
Crowd: 25,580

Ty Stedman-"It's always tough to come to Stoke and try and get the points but it's incredibly tougher when they take an early lead through a deflection. Luck went against us there and it just never came back to us. Our passing completion was nowhere near the level required to win a Premier League game. It was a shocker for us today."

I wouldn't say we're crumbling under pressure. We know how close we are to finishing in the top four and we can't afford to drop many more games at this rate. Today was one of those games where nothing really worked. We lacked across the park and were lucky not to lose by more. We'll come back improved for the do or die Europa League fixture midweek."
