PART 76: Grimsby Career Mode-FIFA 17

UEFA Europa League Draw:

Grimsby Town (ENG) v Belenenses (POR)

Ty Stedman-"I can't say whether it's a good draw or a bad one. We weren't going to care who we drew and we were going to take the challenge on regardless. Obviously avoiding teams like Roma does help our chances but we don't know too much about Belenenses at this stage so it's a challenge nonetheless.

We have a couple of months to prepare for these fixtures so it'll give us time to watch a few of Belenenses' games in the Portuguese League. That being said they'll be watching us too."

Premier League-Matchday 15-Monday 13th December 2021
West Ham United (C.Kouyate) 1 drew. Grimsby Town (Oscar) 1
London Stadium
Crowd: 56,212

Ty Stedman-"It feels like I'm sitting here describing draws more often than not. We wanted to come here and win with a busy period of the season fast approaching. Oscar's free kick that gave us the lead was probably the best free kick I've seen in my six years at this club. The curve left the keeper no chance.

The period just before half-time is vital in each and every game and to fall apart and allow Kouyate to grab a tap-in shows that we just need some work on how we lead games. In Europe we're flying high but in the Premier League, teams have learnt to pounce on us when the chance is there. We just have to work on the little things."

Premier League-Matchday 16-Sunday 19th December 2021
GRIMSBY TOWN (D.Sturridge-PEN & L.Rose) 2 def. Stoke City 0
Blundell Park
Crowd: 9,002

Ty Stedman-"It's been a crazy season so far with a lot of the big teams struggling to create any form. We snuck back into the top five with today's win and it was an all-round performance that we've been wanting to hit in a Premier League game. We showed a little bit of it against Watford a few weeks back but this is the sort of form that we've produced in Europe to massive success.

Stoke City aren't an easy side to break down but we've played them five teams and have never conceded against them. I wouldn't say we're a bogey team of theirs but that isn't an everyday sort of record. Regardless of opponent, we wanted to give our fans an early Christmas present and we did just that."

Premier League-Matchday 17-Sunday 26th December 2021
Everton 0 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (Adama) 1
Goodison Park
Crowd: 38,419

Ty Stedman-"What a monumental day for the club. Our first win at Goodison Park in nearly 40 years but more importantly, we've taken advantage of what is the all-time tightest Premier League competition to go top of the league on Boxing Day. This is beyond our wildest dreams.

Everton were good today and we had our best lineup out there to combat them. They made it difficult but Adama's brilliant individual goal gave us a lead and we weren't going to throw it away like we did against West Ham in our last away trip. We want to keep this form going and we have plenty of games coming up to do just that."

Premier League-Matchday 18-Wednesday 29th December 2021
Grimsby Town 0 drew. Swansea City 0
Blundell Park
Crowd: 8,976

Ty Stedman-"I don't know how to feel after that game. We're sick of scoreless draws this season but we've somehow remained top of the league with Arsenal and Chelsea dropping points elsewhere. It's a crazy league at the moment and whilst we're not considering our chances at a title challenge, this would be the perfect time to win games like this and build a top four push.

Swansea City weren't as attack-minded as last time we played them and it meant we had to do a lot more to find space. That said, they cruised home last time we played so it might be a good thing. At home though we can't be content with just the one point. We want all three."
