PART 75: Grimsby Career Mode-FIFA 17

UEFA Europa League-Matchday 5-Thursday 25th November 2021
Heerenveen 0 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (P.Bamford & T.Buhagiar-PEN) 2
Abe Lanstra Stadion
Crowd: 23,471

Ty Stedman-"We've been absolutely superb throughout this group stage of the Europa League and now we've secured top spot with a game to spare. I wanted us to succeed in making the knockout rounds but I didn't see us winning five from five, especially with a clean sheet in each of the last four.

This was the club's maiden competitive game in mainland Europe and Heerenveen are a top side here in the Dutch league so to come here and complete a smash and grab is extremely satisfying. It means the game away to Sporting will be a dead rubber so to speak but we want to make it a perfect six from six so we'll be sending a strong team."

Premier League-Matchday 13-Sunday 28th November 2021
Middlesbrough 0 drew. Grimsby Town 0
Riverside Stadium
Crowd: 30,234

Ty Stedman-"This is one of many games over my time here where we've created the majority of chances and just couldn't make it work. The free-kick off the post being the best chance of the entire match. Middlesbrough didn't threaten too much but when they did we had a reliable Mason Cox stopping everything between the sticks.

This was a chance to move back into the top four with teams still trying to find peak form and some bigger teams low on the table. It is two points dropped in my opinion because we were the better side but away from home it's hard to be too disappointed with getting a draw. We've got top of the table Liverpool next who are undefeated so that'll be a challenge."

Premier League-Matchday 14-Saturday 4th December 2021
Grimsby Town 0 drew. Liverpool 0
Blundell Park
Crowd: 9,051 (SOLD OUT)

Ty Stedman-"On reflection we probably should have lost that considering the way we fell apart in the back end of the second half. The first half was a superb performance and we should have been ahead which is saying a lot. Liverpool are undefeated across all competitions and although they've drawn a few games, they are the benchmark at the moment.

During the second half our performance just fell away. Some of the turnovers we were serving up should have led directly to goals but Mason Cox saved us from another loss with another Man of the Match display. It is disappointing because we thought with a home advantage we might have been able to hand Liverpool their first loss of the year."

UEFA Europa League-Matchday 6-Thursday 9th December 2021
Sporting (J.Palhinha) 1 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (T.Buhagiar x2) 2
Estadio Jose Alvalade
Crowd: 41,356

Ty Stedman-"I can't really highlight any negatives tonight. A clean sheet would have been nice to get but we conceded a consolation goal. Apart from that it was mostly all one-way traffic in terms of chances created. They needed a big win to progress so I think they fell away a little once we got the lead.

Trent Buhagiar's double had us up 2-0 before half-time and whilst it would have been nice to go on with it, we were generally comfortable defending that lead in the second half. After the struggles we had getting past Kilmarnock in qualifying, it's amazing to get through the group stage with six wins in six games. It shows that this club is serious about Europe."
