PART 74: Grimsby Career Mode-FIFA 17

Premier League-Matchday 10-Sunday 31st October 2021
GRIMSBY TOWN (D.Sturridge) 1 def. Aston Villa 0
Blundell Park
Crowd: 8,768

Ty Stedman-"We have played some quality football at times lately and left with nothing to show for it. Yes we've had some poor outings but to go four games in the Premier League without a goal is a bit of a drought. Sturridge's goal gave us some confidence and again we were unlucky not to get more.

Villa are in a sticky situation at the bottom of the table and they did all they could to get back into it. The red card at the end to Sam Byram was definitely a fair call. Our defence was at sixes and sevens and ultimately, even though it was blatantly disregarding the rules, that tackle stopped a one on one with the keeper and most likely saved us two valuable points."

UEFA Europa League-Matchday 4-Thursday 4th November 2021
GRIMSBY TOWN (Oscar x2) 2 def. Heart of Midlothian 0
Blundell Park
Crowd: 9,020

Ty Stedman-"You could say we are in two different dimensions between the Premier League and here in the Europa League. Tonight's win means we are through to the final 32 regardless of the final two group games and we're on track to top the group. Four wins from four games. It's amazing form.

Tonight was again all about Oscar. He's been a standout the past few weeks and his double tonight was high-quality. We're struggling to score goals in domestic fixtures but in these games we're cruising along. Hearts are a decent side but they are going to miss the knockout stages. It's a difficult competition."

Premier League-Matchday 11-Sunday 7th November 2021
Manchester United 0 drew. Grimsby Town 0
Old Trafford
Crowd: 75,148

Ty Stedman-"We've had a handful of scoreless draws now this season but today's game was a quality display. We came here last season with a five-man defensive line and got torn to shreds in the 4-0 loss. We had a bit of luck early on today and they dominated the first half but we came good in the second.

Whilst a win would have been perfect for us, it's nice to get a point away from home at Old Trafford and head into the international break with the top four still in touching distance."

Premier League-Matchday 12-Saturday 20th November 2021
GRIMSBY TOWN (D.Sturridge x2 & T.Buhagiar) 3 def. Watford (H.Calhanoglu) 1
Blundell Park
Crowd: 9,051 (SOLD OUT)

Ty Stedman-"It's no secret that our domestic form hasn't been matching the standards we set last season. We wanted to really make the most of the chances we were making and score some more goals. Today really capped off all of that for us. It was a much improved showing.

Watford have been an arch rival of sorts these past few years and they've had the wood over us but the tide has turned and today we were too good for them and really should have ran away with it in the end. They got one back but the third killed the game off and we should have done more from there.

Trent Buhagiar's opener was struck fairly tamely with the left boot and was lucky to go in. So many times this year we've had superb shots not go in so it's nice for luck to change. The first penalty from Daniel Sturridge was right down the middle and fairly poor but in nonetheless. His second penalty was top shelf though. He had a good game today."
