PART 73: Grimsby Career Mode-FIFA 17

Premier League-Matchday 8-Saturday 16th October 2021
Manchester City 0 drew. Grimsby Town 0
Etihad Stadium
Crowd: 54,398

Ty Stedman-"Well we were hoping to come here like we did last year and pull off an upset but it wasn't to be today. The international break took its toll on a few of our key players and again we just couldn't break through and score a goal or two. We played well and created chances but it's a familiar story.

City are struggling down in 17th but I don't buy into that too much after only eight games. They've got a talented squad and they'll definitely finish well above the drop zone. They also had their chances today but just like the Tottenham fixture two weeks ago, neither team could find the net."

UEFA Europa League-Matchday 3-Thursday 21st October 2021
GRIMSBY TOWN (T.Buhagiar x2 & Oscar) 3 def. Sporting 0
Blundell Park
Crowd: 9,042

Ty Stedman-"We can never say we do things the easy way but tonight's game was our most comfortable performance in a long time. It ended 3-0 but it could have been double that. Sporting Lisbon are a big-time club but that wasn't anywhere near their potential.

Trent Buhagiar's double was a confidence-booster as he hasn't found too many goals yet this season and Oscar is just getting better week by week. We're three from three in Europe and we're aiming to complete our good form and top this group that we're in. It's great times for the club."

Premier League-Matchday 9-Sunday 24th October 2021
Grimsby Town 0 def by. CHELSEA (M.Batshuayi) 1
Blundell Park
Crowd: 9,051 (SOLD OUT)

Ty Stedman-"There's no excuses for us. We've had a tough draw lately and we've had European commitments but we held Chelsea out today just to throw it away with some poor backpassing towards the end of the game. We threw it away, make no mistake.

A few weeks ago we sat top of the league but we've fallen away. We're not expecting to win the title but a real crack at the top four like last season would be nice. Attacking today was our weakest point and we didn't really register any crucial chances. We have to be better."

EFL Cup-Round of 16-Wednesday 27th October 2021
WEST BROM (P.Ziegler & S.Rondon) 2 def. Grimsby Town (Oscar) 1
The Hawthorns
Crowd: 22,936

Ty Stedman-"I can't try and offload the frustration. We're well above expectations in the Europa League but domestically our form is falling to pieces. As far as I'm concerned we didn't really show up tonight until it was too late. The substitutions did their job and we threatened late but the damage was already done.

I made the decision to rest some key players and field a different line-up and I'll admit it, we got it wrong. Credit has to be given to Oscar who came on and single-handled changed the game. We came close to getting a vital second goal but again we crash out of a cup to West Brom. We'll move on but these domestic cups mean the world for us. We need to show up for games like this."
