PART 67: Grimsby Career Mode-FIFA 17

Premier League-Matchday 27-Sunday 7th March 2021
MANCHESTER UNITED (M.Depay x2, T.Fosu-Mensah & P.Pogba) 4 def. Grimsby Town 0
Old Trafford
Crowd: 75,285

Ty Stedman-"A game of two halves really and then some. The first half, we were fairly lucky at the back and defending wasn't great but we were showing a lot of promise in attack and really took it to United. But poor corner defending just before half-time cost us dearly.

The second half was disgraceful. We had a five-man defensive line today and they simply went through like a knife through butter at times. That was the single worst performance we've produced in a half of football in my time here. And with a team containing Pogba, Griezmann, all of them, it's just never going to end anything but a flogging is it.

I'm not sure what Jose will say during his press conference but if I were in his shoes I'd be admitting more goals should have been scored. We deserved to lose by six or seven based on that performance and there will be some changes, tactically and in terms of the actual line-up.

Fortunately it's another tight season so we're still in 7th but we need to start producing the goods. We have QPR up next who are 13 points from safety at the bottom of the table so with respect to them, we see that as three points or nothing. We have to be honest with ourselves. We can't come away with nothing against a team that is heading for relegation barring a miracle."

Premier League-Matchday 28-Saturday 20th March 2021
GRIMSBY TOWN (T.Buhagiar x2) 2 def. QPR 0
Blundell Park
Crowd: 8,856

Ty Stedman-"That was one of our toughest games we've played this season. Queens Park Rangers are in a huge hole at the moment being 13 points from safety and they're doing all they can to stay in the Premier League. We didn't get anything easy today and really had to work for the three points.

Trent's first goal just had too much power for the goalkeeper and of course we got the penalty late on just to assure ourselves the victory. I think where we are now in the top half of the table and with ever-growing confidence, the teams that are fighting it out down in the relegation zone really want to knock us off. It goes to show that there are no easy games in this league, at least not for us."

Premier League-Matchday 29-Tuesday 30th March 2021
West Ham United 0 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (S.Galloway) 1
Blundell Park
Crowd: 54,749

Ty Stedman-"I doubt we'd be very high on West Ham's christmas card list or Easter card at this time of year. We've now played them five times in four years and beaten them 1-0 on every occasion. It's not easy for us and we've had to hold on and have luck get us over the line in some of those games including tonight.

The goal came off a nice training ground move with free kick from a fair range out. Some nice passes and then a lucky deflection and Scott Galloway of all people to bang it in at the near post. Our defending in my mind was our brightest point of the night. We've struggled as of late so to keep another clean sheet and at a hostile ground like this shows great character."

Premier League-Matchday 30-Saturday 3rd April 2021
GRIMSBY TOWN (E.Turner & D.Sturridge) 2 def. Middlesbrough (G.Ramirez) 1
Blundell Park
Crowd: 9,043

Ty Stedman-"We've had some difficulty at home over the last few games to really take the fight to teams and we haven't managed to turn around a deficit in a while so to come from one-nil down at half-time and win, especially with both goals from decent movements out wide, proves that this team have a lot of heart and desire.

Middlesbrough aren't doing much in terms of where they sit on the table but they played some high-tempo and high-quality football. Gaston Ramirez was enormous for them today and we had the work hard to stop his creativity. Having someone like Daniel Sturridge on the bench today helped our cause as he came on and scored the winner."
