PART 66: Grimsby Career Mode-FIFA 17

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Premier League-Matchday 23-Saturday 6th February 2021
GRIMSBY TOWN (D.Sturridge) 1 def. Stoke City 0
Blundell Park
Crowd: 9,032

Ty Stedman-"After the poor result against West Brom in the FA Cup, we set out a bit differently and wanted to create more chances than we did last week. Stoke City are one of the tougher teams to get past as they normally field a five-man defensive line but we did the job.

Young Morgan Cox was improved in goals after his starting debut against West Brom and kept a clean sheet. Further forward, Jordan Ibe stole the show with his constant pacey runs down the flank and of course he provided the dangerous low-ball that was put in by Daniel Sturridge. We brought Daniel here to score goals and he gave our fans a wonderful highlight in just his second game. We have Manchester City up next, one of the only teams left we haven't beaten in our time in the Premier League."

Premier League-Matchday 24-Saturday 13th February 2021
Manchester City 0 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (T.Buhagiar) 1
Etihad Stadium
Crowd: 54,268

Ty Stedman-"What an amazing day for the club. Manchester City were the one top side left that we haven't beaten at some stage over the last two years. They're flying high competing for the league title and we came here today and dominated the proceedings. This was the tick of approval today to our new lineup and our new style.

I'm not going to lie, I thought we'd be held to a scoreless draw. Daniel Sturridge and Jordan Ibe once again stole the show but it was our club captain Trent Buhagiar taking the headlines. I only wanted one starting striker so Trent took a spot on the bench and with his first touch in 82nd minute, he blasted us ahead to rejoin Christian Eriksen at the top of the league scorers list.

More importantly, today's win takes us above Arsenal into the 5th position just behind Swansea City. Clubs like Swansea and especially Watford are showing that anything is possible in the Premier League. We're confident of booking a Europa League trip but at this rate we may still make it into the big time of the Champions League."

Premier League-Matchday 25-Sunday 21st February 2021
Grimsby Town 0 drew. Crystal Palace 0
Blundell Park
Crowd: 9,027

Ty Stedman-"We played a decent brand of attacking football today but the answers just weren't there in front of goal when it mattered the most. A couple of times we had balls in from corners that really threatened Palace but they just survived and we couldn't do enough to find the back of the net.

Palace aren't in the best league form but they're into the knockout rounds in the Europa League and are a dangerous side on their day so to keep them at bay like we did shows quality at the back but further forward we really need to score some more goals. That was the only difference today between one point and three points."

Premier League-Matchday 26-Saturday 27th February 2021
HULL CITY (C.Ninga x2 & M.Saymak) 3 def. Grimsby Town (Own Goal & D.Sturridge) 2
KC Stadium
Crowd: 22,453

Ty Stedman-"That was a really disappointing showing by us today. Attacking-wise we managed to create some chances but we had luck with the own goal and then Sturridge's goal at the end was just too little too late to make an impact on the result.

Defensively we were fragile, outmuscled and simply outclassed by a team that is fighting an uphill battle to stay in the Premier League. That was Hull's third win in 26 games so credit to them for the hunger and the will but for us that wasn't anywhere near what we were aiming for here. We need to step it up against Manchester United next weekend."
