PART 64: Grimsby Career Mode-FIFA 17

Premier League-Matchday 19-Saturday 2nd January 2021
WATFORD (E.Capoue) 1 def. Grimsby Town 0
Vicarage Road
Crowd: 21,977 (SOLD OUT)

Ty Stedman-"Watford have been the story of the Premier League this season. We're in the New Year and they are sitting on top of the table. We've had our history with them. Three games against them and not one goal scored and now today makes it four.

We weren't good enough in attack to give ourselves the chance the get back into the game. That goal came early on and it was probably the best goal we've conceded this season. Apart from that we kept them at bay most of the time. Watford know how to win this season and they just grinded it out."

Premier League-Matchday 20-Tuesday 5th January 2021
GRIMSBY TOWN (O.Bogle) 1 def. Sunderland 0
Blundell Park
Crowd: 8,958

Ty Stedman-"Obviously we came here tonight with a changed line-up due to the hectic schedule and the players that filled in got the job done well. We created the majority of the chances but once again we made it hard for ourselves by missing a fair few of them.

Defensively we worked hard and barely let them through on goal. Omar Bogle's goal right on half-time really changed my outlook on the game. After a half of wasted chance, luck fell our way and we got the goal we wanted. The second half we did ride our luck a little but a win is a win as they say. These midweek games are crucial for our chances of making it into the Europa League."

The Emirates FA Cup-Round 3-Saturday 9th January 2021
Watford 0 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (T.Buhagiar) 1
Vicarage Road
Crowd: 21,799 (SOLD OUT)

Ty Stedman-"Well, the streak is broken. Watford kept us scoreless for 7 hours over almost five games. It all started with the infamous FA Cup Semi Final at Wembley and then all the Premier League matches and now we've finally beaten them.

As good as it is to break a goal drought against another club, we have to realize that they're on top of the Premier League as we speak. They've been on fire this season so to come here and send them packing from the FA Cup is one of our biggest victories in my time here.

I'm not going to lie, I was asking myself, my assistants, what is it going to take. We missed chances left, right and centre and then finally the penalty on the 84th minute. Trent Buhagiar's penalty was hit well but saved by Pantilimon and then put back in by Trent. They have an amazing keeper in Costel and luck just fell our way unfortunately for them. We have West Brom next up and we'll be looking to progress further this year."

Premier League-Matchday 21-Saturday 16th January 2021
TOTTENHAM (N.Bentaleb & M.Rashford) 2 def. Grimsby Town 0
New White Hart Lane
Crowd: 60,297

Ty Stedman-"We ended a long-standing goal drought against Watford last week and as you've all seen today, Tottenham have broken our winning run over them. All credit to Mauricio and Spurs, they were by far the better team today and we were a fair way off the pace. It should have been more than two if not for some great goalkeeping from Lance Morgan.

We didn't come here with any additional confidence. We knew Spurs would be a tough ask to beat despite our recent history against them. Marcus Rashford was on debut for them and in my eyes was their best player. He made it difficult for us and the pressure they put on our backline was enormous. They were too good for us today, I have no issue admitting that. We'll try and bounce back quickly against Everton."
