PART 63: Grimsby Career Mode-FIFA 17

Premier League-Matchday 15-Sunday 13th December 2020
Grimsby Town 0 drew. AFC Bournemouth 0
Blundell Park
Crowd: 9,002

Ty Stedman-"We've had five scoreless draws this season in about 15 games so it's becoming a habit of ours. Defensively, we can do no wrong at the moment with more clean sheets than any other Premier League opposition but up front, we are struggling to finish our chances.

Bournemouth are struggling and in the relegation zone so at home we feel like we should have done more to win it. With respect to them, we came into this thinking a win was possible and we're disappointed to drop points. It's a tight competition right now and a couple of wins could push us into the top four with the middle of the season fast approaching. It's good to get a clean sheet but not scoring cancels it out a little bit."

Premier League-Matchday 16-Saturday 19th December 2020
GRIMSBY TOWN (T.Buhagiar x2) 2 def. Arsenal 0
Blundell Park
Crowd: 9,051 (SOLD OUT)

Ty Stedman-"What a way to start the busy festive period. We did come here today with hope of getting a result but I never saw us dominating it in the fashion that we did. We decided to push high up the park early on and try to force Arsenal into some low-percentage plays.

Tactically we played with the same formation but as you saw, our wingers were pushing their defenders and our attackers just didn't stop running all day. It shows the fitness of the squad and the desire to win. Trent Buhagiar should have had a hat-trick and we probably should have got four or five. Arsenal are title favourites so to pull off a big win like this does a lot for our confidence going forward."

Premier League-Matchday 17-Saturday 26th December 2020
Leicester City (B.Chilwell) 1 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (T.Ince & B.Fornaroli-PEN) 2
King Power Stadium
Crowd: 32,252

Ty Stedman-"That was one of the craziest endings to a game I've seen in the Premier League. It really did have everything. We fought hard to have the lead against ten men and then we gave it all away within five minutes or so when Ben Chilwell of all people blasted it past Lance Morgan.

We weren't going to accept a draw. We wanted all three points and with stoppage time running out, a penalty and another red card and luck going our way. I'm not sure how Schmeichel didn't save the penalty. Very unfortunate for the ball to deflect in like that but we'll take it. That takes us four points clear of United and keeps us in sixth place. We have Chelsea in three days so there's not much time to rest."

Premier League-Matchday 18-Tuesday 29th December 2020
GRIMSBY TOWN (H.Kiyotake & T.Buhagiar) 2 def. Chelsea 0
Blundell Park
Crowd: 9,051 (SOLD OUT)

Ty Stedman-"Tonight was one of our biggest wins yet. The halfway point of the season, we knew we had to provide a test for Chelsea. It's no secret how bad of a season they're having, sitting on the edge of the relegation zone after winning the title last year. We knew they'd be doing all they could to leave with a point or three.

Of course we had to rest players with such a short turn-around from Boxing Day and the ones that came in did very well. Nathan Doyle made a very rare start and controlled midfield well and Hiroshi Kiyotake had his best game in a Grimsby shirt. Trent Buhagiar subbed on and grabbed a late goal to move to nine for the season. It's all going very well for us at the moment and we're happy with where we're placed.

We have league leaders Watford up next and we need to take some inspiration from them. They're proving anything is possible and they've been brilliant over the last few seasons."
