PART 57: Grimsby Career Mode-FIFA 17

 Premier League-Matchday 36-Saturday 9th May 2020
Norwich City 0 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (R.Phillips & O.Bozanic) 2
Carrow Road
Crowd: 27,045

Ty Stedman-"We came here today expecting a war with Norwich needing a win to stay alive in the race to avoid relegation. The first half was fairly cagey and they had a lot of the momentum with a vocal home crowd behind them. We silenced all of that with Reece Phillips' goal just before half-time. I called for some control at half-time. Just to slow the pace down a little and try and lead from the front then go for the counter so often.

They obviously threw everything they had at us and we're only fortunate we have Lance Morgan in goals because he kept us in front and then Oli Bozanic scoring the winner two minutes from time gave us all three points. Commiserations to Norwich and their fans. It's just business for us today and we're not thinking about their relegation and certainly not celebrating it. Part of the game and hopefully they'll bounce back quickly. As for us, we've got a trip to Anfield and a chance to amend that infamous 3-2 loss."

 Premier League-Matchday 37-Saturday 16th May 2020
LIVERPOOL (D.Alli) 1 def. Grimsby Town 0
Crowd: 53,210

Ty Stedman-"Football can be a cruel game sometimes. We obviously were the better team today. I don't want to tout my own horn but the chances show that, the possession, the dominance. Liverpool worked hard in defence but they struggled to get past some determined defending.

A point would have been great for us and then of course with only minutes remaining we threw it all away. One little lapse at the back let Dele Alli in and that was that. Liverpool have had our number this season but trust me, we'll be back better than ever next year. It's a friendly rivalry but there's no hiding that today's loss hurts us. We deserved better but that's football isn't it."

 Premier League-Matchday 38-Sunday 24th May 2020
GRIMSBY TOWN (M.Rojas) 1 def. West Ham United 0
Blundell Park
Crowd: 9,051 (SOLD OUT)

Ty Stedman-"I didn't expect any less than a win today. We wanted to send our fans home with one last piece of glory for our biggest season in living memory. It's been a wild ride and one that we only hope to build on next season. We beat West Ham 1-0 early on in just our second league game so it's a bit of deja vu.

The goal was a classy finish from Marco Rojas. With a lot going on in the box and the ball pinballing around, hitting it on the half-volley like that takes a lot of quick-thinking. It blasted the back of the net and it was a lovely goal for our fans to enjoy before the off-season.

End of Season 2019/2020:

Ty Stedman-"To finish in 11th shows that we're a team capable of more. You've seen what Watford and Crystal Palace have done in recent years, charging into the Europa League and making a real crack at bringing home some European silverware. We want Europa League football. Whether it be by finishing sixth or so or winning one of the cups, we want that next level.

Financially, we've increased our club value by ten fold. The owners and management committee invested in youth early on and its all paid dividends. The club's popularity has sky-rocketed both here and overseas and everything is perfect for us. We'll only be bigger and better next year."
