PART 55: Grimsby Career Mode-FIFA 17

Premier League-Matchday 28-Wednesday 11th March 2020
Stoke City 0 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (B.Fornaroli) 1
Bet365 Stadium
Crowd: 18,478

Ty Stedman-"This is a very tough ground to come to, especially in conditions like tonight. We've all heard the jokes about this ground and how hard it is to win here and trust me, that was not an easy game. Our defence had to work hard for the majority and our attack was kept fairly quiet.

The key moment was without a doubt the game-winning counter-attack. We pride ourselves on our pace and our vision going forward. Turning momentum isn't easy and one mistargeted pass could allow the opposition to turn us around and take off themselves. It's been a recurring theme and we'll never give up until the final whistle. That's why we've done this so often."

Premier League-Matchday 29-Sunday 15th March 2020
Grimsby Town 0 drew. Manchester City 0
Blundell Park
Crowd: 9,051 (SOLD OUT)

Ty Stedman-"I'm delighted with our turn around over the past few weeks. We've proven ourselves and we've solidified our spot in the top flight. We weren't going to be happy being anywhere near the drop zone so to pick up some valuable points has helped us in a big way.

City are obviously in the fight for the top six and maybe beyond so to hold them to a gutsy draw gives a pick tick of approval to our new defensive structure. We do have five at the back but as you've seen we like to get our fullbacks forward and we're just transitioning very well."

 Premier League-Matchday 30-Saturday 21st March 2020
Grimsby Town 0 drew. AFC Bournemouth 0
Blundell Park
Crowd: 9,043

Ty Stedman-"The conditions for a high-quality game this afternoon were there. A big crowd with both sets of fans chanting loudly before the game, a nice sunny spring afternoon but we honestly let ourselves down and I doubt Eddie Howe will be too happy with the way Bournemouth played either.

Both teams are capable of scoring goals and today was just lacking a bit. The few chances either way were stopped by some quality goalkeeping but for the fans who love to see goals, our last two games have been quiet. I won't lie, I wanted more than the point today against a team below us on the table."

 Premier League-Matchday 31-Saturday 4th April 2020
Manchester United (G.Deulofeu) 1 drew. Grimsby Town (T.Buhagiar-PEN) 1
Crowd: 75,376
Old Trafford

Ty Stedman-"It was a day of mixed emotions for us. Firstly, what an amazing venue and atmosphere this place is. 73 years since Grimsby Town last visited Old Trafford, we had this one circled on the calendar purely for the ground itself. United are one of the world's biggest clubs but Old Trafford itself brings a mystique. We still hold the all-time ground record here for the Wolves FA Cup Semi Final in the 1930's. There's a historic connection.

As for the game, we obviously were given the first goal. Not to sound harsh or anything but honestly Daley Blind's challenge in the box was just not needed and silly. It's a coach killer and I'm sure Jose was counting his blessings that Blind wasn't sent off. Five minutes in, I can see why the referee thought only a yellow was needed but it denied a goal. Trent's penalty was nicely taken.

We dominated the majority of the chances and I'm delighted with the way we exploited them down the flanks. Marco Rojas and Reece Phillips were quality against their fullbacks.

Obviously I can't hide my disappointment about the soft goal we conceded and the draw. We wanted to hold on but obviously that wasn't to be. A good performance for 75 minutes but we need to last the full 90."
