PART 47: Grimsby Career Mode-FIFA 17

Premier League-Matchday 1-Sunday 18th August 2019
Crystal Palace 0 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (D.Clut) 1
Selhurst Park
Crowd: 24,891

Ty Stedman-"Wow. What a game, what a debut for Devante Clut. It's absolutely amazing that we've come here today and pulled off the unthinkable. We came here hoping for the best but to win it in the 93rd minute just speaks volume of what this side is capable of. We're not here to be easybeats, we want to ruffle up some feathers and cause a shock or two.

Devante Clut on debut. I mean, it barely makes sense what he's achieved. Subbing on with ten minutes to go and smashing home a winner off the bar in the 93rd minute. I try to avoid getting caught up in all the hysteria but this win is simply amazing. A monumental occasion for the club."

Premier League-Matchday 2-Saturday 24th August 2019

Blundell Park
Crowd: 9,051 (SOLD OUT)

Ty Stedman-"Not for the first time, I'm speechless. You try to tell me what just happened. Two last minute wins in a two Premier League games. From front to back it was a team effort. Lance Morgan in goals pulled off some amazing saves and he was the catalyst for the match-winning counter-attack.

Nothing pleases me more as a manager than seeing the team as a unit breaking away on the counter in the 92nd minute and scoring a winner. Trent Buhagiar could have taken it on himself and he's known for late goals but he squared it for a tap-in to Devante. Yes it was a tap-in but it's the most memorable tap-in in Grimsby Town's history. Two games in and we're in a Champions League position. It's an amazing start beyond our wildest dreams.

Bruno Fornaroli did go down with an ankle injury which they're telling me is a suspected fracture so hopefully that is upgraded to just a knock or something tomorrow when he gets scans. We can't afford injuries at this stage. But thank you to the sell-out crowd today, the 70 thousand or so that have bought shirts. The world is on the Grimsby bandwagon and we're happy to be here. Thank you."

Fornaroli Ankle Injury/New Signing

Ty Stedman-"We unfortunately here this morning to confirm that Bruno Fornaroli has broken his ankle and will be out for three to four months. He's only recently returned from a knee injury so it's very unfortunate timing and it left us with a headache at the end of the transfer window.

The good news is that we've managed to act swiftly and promptly in securing the services of another Melbourne-based striker in Besart Berisha. We can't continue with just two strikers so Berisha will immediately be placed onto the bench or even a starting spot if it's warranted.

Money-wise, the funds for Berisha's transfer weren't tabled to be spent but sponsors are jumping on left, right and centre and shirt sales are through the roof as well as our matchday ticket sales. We've practically boosted our club value ten times over these past few years and things are certainly bright for us. As you've seen, we've been renovating our ground and training facilities over the last few months. A new ground is the plan but still a few years off."

Premier League-Matchday 3-Sunday 1st September 2019
West Ham United 0 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (T.Buhagiar-PEN) 1
London Stadium
Crowd: 56,923

Ty Stedman-"Well the Premier League does provide some highlights doesn't it. I can't fault West Ham's efforts. We had our chances but they smashed the woodwork twice which on another day would have ended in victory for them. We just had the luck and that's all it takes in football some days.

We're not getting ahead of ourselves. Yes we're sitting equal top of the Premier League after three games but it could all fall apart very quickly. We can't afford to get our heads stuck on the headlines and the commentary. It's good to win but week by week is how we're taking this."

Premier League-Matchday 4-Sunday 15th September 2019
Grimsby Town (B.Berisha x2) 2 def by. LIVERPOOL (D.Origi x2 & D.Sturridge) 3
Blundell Park
Crowd: 9,051 (SOLD OUT)

Ty Stedman-"It's tough to take. We had a strong lead but football often brings a range of emotions. We were just not good enough in the end to get the three points. We're still 2nd, we're still flying higher than anyone thought we would even at this early stage.

Liverpool if I can say it whilst still sounding respectful, they were poor in the 1st Half. They allowed us in behind a fair few times and Besart Berisha isn't someone you want barring down on goal. He scored a brace which proves how valuable he is to this team.

We didn't want someone to fill Fornaroli's shoes, we wanted someone to take that spot and add some competition to our attacking force. Bruno knows he will need to earn his spot back. That's how we operate.

The 2nd Half, all Liverpool. As soon as they brought on Daniel Sturridge they simply ran away with it. It could have been 4 or 5-2. He's all class and Origi out wide too. It's players like those that we didn't have to deal with too often in the lower leagues. We're here now and we will face world class talent. Credit to Jurgen and his side for breaking their winless drought and we look forward to the Anfield trip."
