PART 25: Grimsby Career Mode-FIFA 17

The Emirates FA Cup-Round 3 Replay-Wednesday 17th January 2018
Sunderland 0 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (T.Buhagiar) 1
Stadium of Light
Crowd: 32,893

Ty Stedman-"It's hard to find words at the moment. We battled our arses off for 180 of the most testing minutes I've ever seen a football team go through. Sunderland dominated the first game but we came to this intimidating venue tonight and created the majority of chances. Win or lose I would have been delighted.

But what can you say about that ending. Sunderland got caught up the field, credit to Lance Morgan in goals for spotting Marcus on the run and then as soon as the ball found the feet of Trent Buhagiar our bench went up as one. 120th minute, top right corner finish and an FA Cup win at one of the country's biggest stadiums. It's amazing to be involved in one of the club's greatest ever moments.

We've drawn Birmingham City in the Round of 32 so we'll take confidence into that one. If we can beat Premier League opposition then we fancy ourselves a chance against a Championship side. The test will be tough but cup football can bring anything as tonight proved."

EFL League One-Matchday 28-Saturday 20th January 2018
Grimsby Town 0 def by. BARNSLEY (T.Bradshaw)
Blundell Park
Crowd: 8,769

Ty Stedman-"It was always going to be a difficult task to back up from the madness of Wednesday night's game. We switched out the majority of our team, played with a formation that didn't really suit our style due to the fact that we were so short on attackers. Nothing really worked and they grabbed a cheap goal at the end. We're sitting fairly comfortably in second spot so it's not a major loss and we'll bounce back."

New Signings:

Ty Stedman: "We had a fair bit of money to spend after the season we've had so far. As you all know we kept a fairly tight shoestring budget during the early season transfer window. We've picked up Dominic Smith from Shrewsbury who is an imposing centre back that's played at a youth international level for Wales. One or two of our backs are retiring this year so it's an eye to the future.

The other signing is one we're very excited about. Yes we broke the bank to get him and lost a great player in Ashley Chambers but Ruben Lamieras comes in high regard. He's been involved in Tottenham's academy and more recently played for Coventry City. He'll add some real class down the right side.

The Emirates FA Cup-Round of 32-Sunday 28th January 2018
GRIMSBY TOWN (T.Buhagiar-PEN) 1 def. Birmingham City 0
Blundell Park
Crowd: 8,923

Ty Stedman-"We knew we'd be tested but to be fair on Birmingham, I thought we really got the most out of today's game. The chances we created were a lot more direct and threatening than the ones they did. If anything it's a credit to our defence that we were able to keep them at bay for the majority.

The idea of another replay at a hostile ground in front of a crowd three or four times bigger than our own wasn't a good one. They gave away the penalty and we took that chance with open arms. Trent rarely misses them and now we can prepare for the club's first trip to the Round of 16 in the FA Cup in 22 years or so. It's a brilliant season we're having."

EFL League One-Matchday 29-Saturday 3rd February 2018
GRIMSBY TOWN (R.Lameiras) 1 def. Gillingham 0
Blundell Park
Crowd: 8,875

Ty Stedman-"It was nice to be able to utilise our full squad for a league game for the first time in a long while. Gillingham are a tricky side to break down but Ruben Lameiras marked his league debut for the club in some style. That run in behind and then the finish took some skill and it's probably the best way for the player to introduce himself to our fans."
