PART 2: Grimsby Career Mode-FIFA 17

EFL Cup-Round 2-Tuesday 23rd August 2016
GRIMSBY TOWN (T.Buhagiar) 1 def. Southend United 0
Blundell Park
Crowd: 6,866

Ty Stedman-"There was a general feeling of positivity going into tonight. Up against higher league opposition and a side that won promotion last season. We come out firing and got a goal early on which Trent finished very well. Asides from that we managed to create some chances but more importantly we stayed extremely solid at the back. Similar to the Notts County game, we just won ugly. That's cup football."

EFL League Two-Matchday 4-Saturday 27th August
Exeter City 0 drew. Grimsby Town 0
St James' Park
Crowd: 7,921

Ty Stedman-"Another frustrating day at the office if I'm going to be honest. Yes it wasn't the best preparation having to travel near the length of the country down here to the South coast but that's no excuse. We had the chances and we simply couldn't bury them. Buhagiar worked well and had one or two misses that he'd probably bury on another day and Boyce was solid at the back."

Checkatrade Trophy-Round 1-Tuesday 30th August
GRIMSBY TOWN (B.Comley & S.Tuton) 2 def. MK Dons 0
Blundell Park
Crowd: 6,938

Ty Stedman-"We ran a slight risk tonight fielding some players who've had to work their way through reserve grade this season. There's only eleven starting spots and I run a fairly steady ship so the ones that got a chance tonight really took it. Just like the Southend game, we were up against League One opposition and we totally outplayed them.

Even with a scoreless score at half-time I thought it was only a matter of time to break through. We peppered them all night and Brandon Comley slotted one home to put us ahead and then Shaun Tuton bagged one as well which was nice for his first game of the year. The Checkatrade Trophy is probably our best chance of silverware this season, if I'm going to be realistic."

EFL League Two-Matchday 5-Saturday 3rd September
GRIMSBY TOWN (T.Buhagiar & D.Vose) 2 def. Carlisle United (D.Solanke) 1
Blundell Park
Crowd: 8,049

Ty Stedman-"It's fairly easy to give praise for a win but I really thought we scrapped it today. Defensively we were poor and we were punished for their equaliser but fortunately we fired straight back and held our nerve but it wasn't our best night at the back. James in goal was again tested and stood firm.

Three crucial points though whichever way you look at it. It's our first league win at home for the year and we'll look to build on a fairly decent start. We have Plymouth Argyle up next who are leading the comp. The way we're looking at it is 12th place can turn into a top 3 place very quickly during the early stages of the season."
