PART 17: Grimsby Career Mode-FIFA 17

EFL Cup-Round 2-Wednesday 23rd August 2017
Coventry City 0 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (T.Buhagiar) 1
Ricoh Arena
Crowd: 8,923

Ty Stedman-"The EFL Cup is held in high regard for us as we want to progress past the early rounds and maybe set up a date with a Premier League side. We scrapped home tonight in a gutsy performance. Coventry fired some shots at us but we held firm albeit with ten men. The red card to Boyce was the correct call. It was a challenge that had to be made. We don't set out with bad intentions but it was a tactical tackle if anything."

EFL League One-Matchday 4-Saturday 26th August 2017
Huddersfield Town (S.Scannell) 1 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (M.Thuram x2, T.Buhagiar & S.Davies) 4
The John Smith's Stadium
Crowd: 10,875

Ty Stedman-"Today was the best way to bounce back from a fairly disappointing home loss. Huddersfield have featured in the Championship until this season so they're a decent club albeit in a bad patch at the moment.

Marcus Thuram finally broke his duck and he did so in style with two quality goals. Trent Buhagiar has four goals in four games and is again leading the Golden Boot standings but unfortunately for us he'll miss the huge game next weekend against Scunthorpe due to international duty with Australia. Great for Trent but bad for us. Omar Bogle will step in and fill the void though.

And let me say how serious we are treating the Scunthorpe game. Nothing means more to our supporters and its been twelve long years since the two clubs played in the same divisions. I've been told Grimsby haven't lost a league match at home to Scunthorpe since the 60's so we'll be fired up."

EFL League One-Matchsay 5-Saturday 2nd September 2017
GRIMSBY TOWN (M.Thuram x2 & O.Bogle) 3 def. Scunthorpe United (P.Madden) 1
Blundell Park
Crowd: 8,831

Ty Stedman-"We've had some good moments at this ground over the last year but today's game just takes the cake over it all. A massive crowd, a loud crowd and a local derby for the ages. We started well but couldn't finish our chances and then bang on half-time they scored a cheap header that we shouldn't be conceding.

Me and the captain Ben Davies together probably tore one or two coats of paint off the changeroom walls. I wanted to let the side know that defeat wasn't an option. We didn't want to come back and draw, we wanted to win. It's derby football and we at least had to provide that passion for our fans. It's their day to enjoy and we hope they did just so.

Trent Buhagiar will start on the bench due to his travel back and forth next weekend so the partnership up front with Marcus and Omar will continue. We have three excellent strikers and there'll no doubt be some selection headaches. It's part of the job."

EFL League One-Matchsay 6-Saturday 9th September 2017
Gillingham 0 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (A.Boyce) 1
Preistfield Stadium
Crowd: 6,234

Ty Stedman-"It's quite amazing to see us start the season in such fine form. We weren't aiming to be anywhere near the top two this early in the season, if maybe at all. I'm positive if we continue like this for the majority of the year, we'll be a high chance of promotion to the Championship. There's something about this team and it was on show today."
