PART 105: Grimsby Career Mode-FIFA 17

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Premier League-Matchday 13-Saturday 25th November 2023
Arsenal 0 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (Oscar) 1
Emirates Stadium

Ty Stedman-"Relief. Our fans will know all too well what Everton can do. Last year they came here and won 5-0 and then on the last day they won to deny us the league title. Even this season they've managed to knock us out of the league cup. This was a massive win mentally for us.

Everton were always going to be a tough team to beat. The penalty helped our cause and we took a lead but unlike the last few Premier League games, we couldn't go on with it. Everton had a few worrying chances throughout that had me thinking that they'd comeback but we held on for a nervy win."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Premier League-Matchday 14-Friday 1st December 2023
GRIMSBY TOWN (B.Traore) 1 def. Middlesbrough 0
Blundell Park

Ty Stedman-"Not a great night of football. The three points is nice but the gameplay was a long way off where it needs to be for us. We've had some luck and that's all that got us the win tonight. Unfortunately for the away fans, Middlesbrough didn't punish our mistakes. We're happy to keep another clean sheet but we won't win too many games playing like that."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UEFA Champions League-Matchday 6-Tuesday 5th December 2023
NAPOLI (F.Ghoulam & J.Locadia) 2 def. Grimsby Town 0
Stadio Olimpico

Ty Stedman-"By far our worst performance of the season. Obviously this game meant little in terms of where we'd finish in the group. Win, lose or draw it didn't matter so I switched up our entire starting eleven and despite having a decent team on paper, it's very hard to produce a performance when your fate is already sealed.

Napoli were too good for us tonight and needed to win to top the group so I'm not surprised at the result but obviously our performance really lacked so improvement is needed. No doubting that."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Premier League-Matchday 15-Sunday 10th December 2023
TOTTENHAM (E.Dier x2) 2 def. Grimsby Town (B.Traore) 1
New White Hart Lane

Ty Stedman-"It's very disappointing. We've played some fairly poor football in the last two weeks. Today was always going to be tough but we rolled over way too easily in my mind. We got one back but it was too little, too late. Tottenham just wanted it more than we did and that's not good enough for the squad we have.

Obviously the most disappointing aspect is not just losing our 14-game unbeaten streak to start the season but dropping three valuable points heading into a busy portion of the season."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PART 104: Grimsby Career Mode-FIFA 17

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UEFA Champions League-Matchday 4-Tuesday 31st October 2023
Grimsby Town (T.Buhagiar) 1 drew. Celtic (Zhang Yuhing) 1
KCOM Stadium, Hull

Ty Stedman-"Contrasting form isn't it. Domestically in the Premier League we are in some of the best form we've ever produced but our Champions League defence has been nothing short of abysmal so far. We just haven't been able to buy any luck.

Celtic got a cheap goal early on but Trent Buhagiar's screamer from outside the box drew us level before half-time. We had the better chances in the second half but it wasn't to be. We have a mountain to climb obviously to progress to the knockout stage but the Europa League is well within our reach. That's better than nothing I guess but tonight's result is a disappointing one."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Premier League-Matchday 11-Saturday 4th November 2023
Leicester City 0 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (B.Traore x2 & M.Dembele) 3
King Power Stadium

Ty Stedman-"Again we've had to bounce back from a disappointing midweek result. The Champions League campaign has been poor by our standards but for the most part, a simple lack of luck has cost us dear. In the Premier League though it's the complete opposite.

Leicester is a tough ground to come to and again we showed up and just played an exciting brand, an attacking brand and really should have won 4 or 5-0 in the end. This team is clicking and the aim is nothing short of winning the league title. This form we're in is amazing."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Premier League-Matchday 12-Sunday 19th November 2023
GRIMSBY TOWN (B.Traore-PEN) 1 def. Everton 0
Blundell Park

Ty Stedman-"Relief. Our fans will know all too well what Everton can do. Last year they came here and won 5-0 and then on the last day they won to deny us the league title. Even this season they've managed to knock us out of the league cup. This was a massive win mentally for us.

Everton were always going to be a tough team to beat. The penalty helped our cause and we took a lead but unlike the last few Premier League games, we couldn't go on with it. Everton had a few worrying chances throughout that had me thinking that they'd comeback but we held on for a nervy win."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UEFA Champions League-Matchday 5-Wednesday 22nd November 2023
Olympique Lyon (W.Campanini) 1 drew. Grimsby Town (Oscar) 1
Parc Olympique Lyon

Ty Stedman-"It's a little bit hard to take, this result. We were on top of the world about five months ago, lifting the famous trophy in the middle of the San Siro. Here we are with a game still to go in the Group Stage and it's all over. Our trophy defence has come crashing down.

It's not all lost as we will go to the Europa League regardless of the final result in Naples but for us this is nothing short of a chance blown. We knew we had a target on our backs, we played some decent football at times but a couple games saw luck let us down and a couple games, we just weren't good enough. It's highly disappointing."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PART 103: Grimsby Career Mode-FIFA 17

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Premier League-Matchday 8-Saturday 14th October 2023
GRIMSBY TOWN (M.Dembele) 1 def. Norwich City 0
Blundell Park

Ty Stedman-"It wasn't a great performance today in front of goal. We created a lot of chances but we were unable to bury them. Norwich have started the season well so we wanted to play them out of the game as time ticked by but fortunately for us, we were able to defend our way to a tight win.

It's still very early in the season but to be undefeated in seven games and have 20 points already on the board is a really good way to start our push for the league title. In a 38-game season, you'll have games where you have to do it the hard way and that's exactly what we did today."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UEFA Champions League-Matchday 3-Wednesday 18th October 2023
Grimsby Town 0 def by. NAPOLI (O.Zinchenko-OG) 1
KCOM Stadium, Hull

Ty Stedman-"It's not easy to sit here and discuss how we lost that game. An own-goal with less than five minutes to go is not the ideal way to lose any game let alone a crucial Champions League fixture. We played some good football and deserved a point no doubt but our luck ran out I guess.

I'm definitely not going to be worrying just yet about missing the knockout stage. We do admittingly need to produce results now in France and Italy as well as make sure we knock off Celtic in our next home fixture. It's a tough road but we want to defend our title."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Premier League-Matchday 9-Saturday 21st October 2023
Sunderland 0 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (B.Traore & Oscar) 2
Stadium of Light

Ty Stedman-"We wanted to come here and bounce back from what was an extremely frustrating loss in the Champions League midweek. We've started the season in good scoring form and again today we really did the job well. One or two more goals at the end wouldn't have been undeserved.

The plan was to come to this tough away venue and play Sunderland out of the game. The second half was similar to a lot of second half displays we've put out this season, just perfect. Our defending was top notch and we kept five points between us and Arsenal in second place so a very good day for us."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Premier League-Matchday 10-Saturday 28th October 2023
GRIMSBY TOWN (B.Traore x2 & J.Bosetti) 3 def. Manchester City 0
Blundell Park

Ty Stedman-"I'd rate today as one of our best all-round wins in the time I've been here. I'm told before today we had four goals against City in the past nine so to brush them aside with a convincing 3-0 result is nothing short of satisfying.

Our frontline is extremely dangerous. Bertrand Traore bagged another two goals today but he was outshined in terms of finishing class by Josh Bosetti. It's not often you see a defensive midfielder get into the box and blast a shot into the top right corner. That's the confidence we have and it's good to have that."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PART 102: Grimsby Career Mode-FIFA 17

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EFL Cup-Round 3-Tuesday 19th September 2023
Grimsby Town (B.Traore) 1 def by. EVERTON (C.Connolly & A.Mehmedi) 2
Blundell Park

Ty Stedman-"Obviously this isn't held in the same regard as the Premier League but our cup performances in the years I've been here have always been inconsistent. Tonight we played some good football but just had a lot of luck go against us. Everton got the better of the 50/50 bounces and all that sort of stuff.

I thought we had a legitimate penalty shout at one stage which if given could have helped us a lot but it just wasn't to be. It's not good to lose a game but the positive of this is we will have less midweek games than we did last season. That's a plus. Just not our night."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Premier League-Matchday 6-Saturday 23rd September 2023
GRIMSBY TOWN (B.Traore x2, M.Dembele & L.Hernandez) 4 def. Newcastle United (C.Adams & I.Kahveci) 2
Blundell Park

Ty Stedman-"Well we've continued our brilliant start to the Premier League season but again I'm left with mixed thoughts. It was a solid opening where we took a 2-0 lead fairly early on but conceding two sloppy goals in stoppage time was not good enough. It changed our mentality for half-time. We dominated but it was 2-2.

The second half was near perfect. We weren't going to be happy with two more points dropped at home. Moussa gave us a lead and then Lucas Hernandez scored a brilliant goal for a centre back, sliding in for it and tapping the ball in when a lot of bodies were in there. All in all a very decent 4-2 victory."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UEFA Champions League-Matchday 2-Tuesday 26th September 2023
Celtic (S.Janko) 1 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (O.Zinchenko, B.Traore-PEN & D.Sturridge) 3
Celtic Park

Ty Stedman-"Last time we came here Celtic were down to nine men after 25 minutes and playing some awful football for a team of that quality. Tonight we saw what Celtic are capable of. They scored a brilliant goal through their right back Janko and they forced us to think about how we were going to come back.

The second half was as close to perfect as we could get. Just like the Newcastle game on the weekend we rallied well and the new additions like Zinchenko and Bertrand Traore are just on fire. Zinchenko got three assists against Newcastle and then scored tonight. It's nice to have options across the park."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Premier League-Matchday 7-Saturday 30th September 2023
Swansea City 0 drew. Grimsby Town 0
Liberty Stadium

Ty Stedman-"Based on our first six or seven weeks this season, today's game was a fair way off the pace. Neither team really went for it and it lacked the intensity that should no doubt be an integral part of a Premier League fixture. There's not much else I can say about the game, it was a boring stalemate."

PART 101: Grimsby Career Mode-FIFA 17

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Premier League-Matchday 3-Sunday 27th August 2023
Chelsea (D.Solanke) 1 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (V.Fischer & Oscar) 2
Stamford Bridge

Ty Stedman-"I'm not going to lie, I'm not sure how we're leaving here today with a win. Chelsea got the best of us early on and scored a decent goal but again this side showed a lot of character. Just like the Champions League Final against Chelsea last year, we found a way back.

Viktor Fischer was superb on debut for the club down the left flank. Selling Jordan Ibe wasn't in our plans but RB Leipzig's offer was generous and Jordan was happy for a seachange. As for our winning goal, it was just luck really. Chelsea scrappy at the back and Oscar almost ran it into the net against his old side. Madness at the end but three valuable points."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Premier League-Matchday 4-Saturday 9th September 2023
Grimsby Town (B.Traore-PEN & Mexer-OG) 2 drew. Liverpool (J.Matip & J.Gomez) 2
Blundell Park

Ty Stedman-"Disappointment. That's all that can be used to describe this result today. Liverpool went down to ten obviously with the penalty and right on half-time we got a second with the unfortunate own goal. From there, at home, 2-0 up against ten men, it should be academic. We blew it.

Liverpool came here a few years back and again we had a 2-0 lead and that night we went down 3-2. Today is equally as frustrating if not more. Both their goals came off of corners and it's showing a weakness we have with defending set plays at the moment. If we can fix that we'll be fine but this in my eyes is two points dropped that we shouldn't have dropped."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UEFA Champions League-Matchday 1-Tuesday 12th September 2023
Grimsby Town 0 def by. OLYMPIQUE LYON (M.Cornet) 1
KCOM Stadium, Hull

Ty Stedman-"We weren't expecting an easy game tonight but as the holders of the Champions League, we wanted to send a message in our first group game that we're here once again to compete and win games. It was a fairly even encounter throughout and I thought a draw was a deserved result but it wasn't to be.

Losing games will happen. We were never going to be invincible or anything like that but to lose to an 89th minute goal, especially as a result of tired defending just shows we need to work towards keeping that edge for 90 minutes. We dropped two goals against Liverpool and now we've lost tonight. It's got to turn around and we'll do just that."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Premier League-Matchday 5-Saturday 9th September 2023
Watford (H.Calhanoglu & Ademison) 2 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (V.Fischer, M.Dembele & O.Zinchenko) 3
Vicarage Road

Ty Stedman-"Quality-wise I couldn't have asked for more. We've played some brilliant football in a few of our matches now this season and we're highly confident in our goalscoring form. Defensively we were better. They scored a decent goal in the first half and then a simple error at the back cost us in the 92nd minute or so.

The late goal did annoy me a little bit but really it's the football that matters and we outplayed Watford today. Viktor Fischer is a huge addition to the squad and has found form quickly for us. We're delighted with our start and more so the way we're going about our business. It was a good win today."

PART 100: Grimsby Career Mode-FIFA 17

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Signings:

IN-Oleksandr Zinchenko

Ty Stedman-"The club's finances are sky high. Improving our results and finishing in the top four the last two seasons went a long way towards buying players like Oleksandr Zinchenko. He's going to be a vital addition to the squad and helps boost our squad depth. He's probably the Ukraine's best player at the moment and he'll be welcome at our club."

OUT-Jake Clarke-Salter

Ty Stedman-"We're trying to shake off a bit of criticism that we're a selling club. We have let go of a few players but most that we've lost have gone on to big clubs. Reece Phillips left and is now one of West Ham's key players, Lance Morgan went to Bayern, even Jordan Allen last year took off to Liverpool. These are big clubs and if they want that then I'm not one who'll stop them. Whether they find success or not is the question.

Jake Clarke-Salter has been our cog in the middle of the defensive line for the better part of five years but he was offered a deal with Chelsea and he took it. He will go down a Grimsby hero after helping us to the Champions League title but life does go on."

IN-Lucas Hernandez

Ty Stedman-"Obviously losing Jake Clarke-Salter left a little bit of a hole and we've well and truly filled it. Lucas Hernandez is a world class centre back from Roma. He will be vital for us and it's a position we take very, very seriously. Good defences win trophies and that's why we've spent big to bring this guy in."

IN-Bertrand Traore

Ty Stedman-"This wasn't a signing we needed to make. We have Dembele, Sturridge, Buhagiar, we have goalscorers. What this is, is a bonus for us. We earned a load of money by winning the Champions League and why not treat ourselves to another world class striker. Bertrand troubled us when he was at Chelsea and he'll fit into what we do very well."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UEFA Super Cup-Saturday 5th August 2023
Juventus (L.Baptistao) 1 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (B.Traore x2 & S.Byram) 3
Millennium Stadium, Cardiff

Ty Stedman-"I wouldn't say we cruised to the trophy tonight. We obviously were the better team on the night but we didn't have it all our own way in that second half. The first half was absolutely superb, they came back just after half time but our quality was too much.

Bertrand Traore proved in just one game why he is such a valuable signing. He is 100% world class and with Moussa Dembele beside him and Oleksandr Zinchenko in behind, our front three are just mind-blowing in the way they played. That was a superb effort out there tonight and yes, it's wonderful to add another beautiful trophy to our collection."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Premier League-Matchday 1-Saturday 12th August 2023
GRIMSBY TOWN (B.Traore x2, J.Bosetti & Adama) 4 def. West Bromwich Albion (E.Marcondes) 1
Blundell Park

Ty Stedman-"I couldn't have asked for a better display on the opening day of the season. I'm not going to sit here for months and lie, we want the league title. To get that close last season and fall short left us hungry. The Champions League was incredible but we want that league title. There's no use not saying that, it's obvious by the signings we've made.

Bertrand once again scored a double and could have had four. He's an amazing player and Joshua Bosetti has come to life in midfield like I knew he could. 3-0 up at half-time, the only thing we could be guilty of is not going on with it. We were the better team and we're playing brilliant football."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Premier League-Matchday 2-Saturday 19th August 2023
GRIMSBY TOWN (M.Dembele) 1 def. Manchester United 0
Blundell Park

Ty Stedman-"We wanted to stamp our authority on where we think we'll end up this year. We wanted to produce quality football early on and pick up some big scalps at the start of the season. Juventus was a big win and today's game, this win over United is again a massive achievement.

We played good football which in my eyes is more important than the three points at this time of year. We're not taking a month or two to warm up. We know titles aren't won in August but the football we want to play is exactly what we're producing. We'll beat most teams if we play like we did today."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EFL Cup-Round 2-Tuesday 22nd August 2023
GRIMSBY TOWN (T.Buhagiar & D.Sturridge) 2 def. Crawley Town 0
Blundell Park

Ty Stedman-"It's a win yes but it wasn't our best display. We've been superb to start the year and obviously we chopped and changed the team for tonight's game. With respect to Crawley, they are a fair distance below us in the system and we wanted to control the game better than what we did.

Credit to Crawley. They played some nice attacking football and put us under pressure. I didn't want to be forced into bringing on someone like Daniel Sturridge over some upcoming talent but when the game's on the line we need our big names and Sturridge's goal sealed what was a very nervy cup tie."

PART 99: Grimsby Career Mode-FIFA 17

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Premier League-Matchday 37-Wednesday 17th May 2023
Chelsea (M.Batshuayi & L.Baker) 2 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (M.Dembele x3) 3
Stamford Bridge
Crowd: 41,505

Ty Stedman-"We had a mission coming here tonight. It was paramount that we ended our winless run against Chelsea. They've been an extremely difficult team to beat and to see them off at Stamford Bridge is by far our biggest league win of the season.

Chelsea threatened and made it tough for us but Moussa Dembele played his best game in Grimsby colours. He was ruthless in front of goals and it was vital in the end. Chelsea did score a late goal to make it 3-2 but it wasn't enough. We're delighted with the victory and with United losing, we only need to worry about Arsenal. Fate is in our hands."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Premier League-Matchday 38-Sunday 21st May 2023
EVERTON (S.Berahino, J.Gomes & K.Dowell) 3 def. Grimsby Town (Oscar) 1
Goodison Park
Crowd: 38,567

Ty Stedman-"It's heartbreak. That's all I can use to describe this. We were on the verge and to be fair we weren't good enough today. That being said, there's nothing that takes this feeling away. To get so close to the Premier League title and lose it on the final day just kills us.

Everton needed a win to seal a spot in the top four so congratulations to them. They beat us 5-0 earlier in the season and they're a quality outfit. Despite Oscar's wondergoal from the free kick, we weren't good enough. I have a heartbroken team that I need to reinstall confidence in for the Champions League Final. We have two weeks to plan and we'll do just that. We can't let this affect our mentality for that game."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UEFA Champions League-Final-Saturday 3rd June 2023
GRIMSBY TOWN (T.Buhagiar & M.Dembele) 2 def. Chelsea (M.Pasalic) 1
San Siro
Crowd: 71,919

Ty Stedman-"This team has done so much. So, so much to make this possible. The pain we've been through has suddenly all gone away. The Premier League title loss is a distant memory. This is as good as it gets. 20,000 fans in black and white shirts in the middle of Milan singing our praises. It's Grimsby's greatest moment no doubt.

Our start was so similar to the EFL Cup Final. Chelsea took an early lead due to our defence opening up but we turned it around. Trent Buhagiar's goal was as vital as any we've ever scored and then Moussa Dembele's shot. Wow. Seeing that ball roll over the line like that was just amazing.

And as good as those two goals were, the final whistle was the moment for us. It threw away the pressure, the desire to bring home the club's first piece of major silverware. I don't know if there's a team in Europe whose only major prize is the biggest one of them all. This is amazing."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PART 98: Grimsby Career Mode-FIFA 17

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UEFA Champions League-Semi Final 1st Leg-Tuesday 2nd May 2023
Grimsby Town 0 drew. FC Barcelona 0
Old Trafford, Manchester
Crowd: 74,679

Ty Stedman-"That was an incredible defensive performance tonight. That was obviously going to be the key for us. We couldn't afford to let in any away goals and we had a few players out that couldn't back up so soon after the defeat at the weekend.

The job is nowhere near done but we'll take some confidence into the second leg and the away goal advantage will help us I think in the long run. This was as important a clean sheet as we've ever recorded. Potentially we're 90 good minutes away from the biggest stage in Europe."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Premier League-Matchday 35-Saturday 6th May 2023
Liverpool 0 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (B.Allen x2 & J.Ibe) 3
Anfield
Crowd: 52,933

Ty Stedman-"It's a hard game to describe. There's no doubt Liverpool had us on the ropes throughout the majority of the first half but our defenders stood firm and then the perfect counter attack just before half-time. It was literally a sucker punch after they dominated us. That's football.

The second half was a complete turn-around. We controlled the game and ended up winning 3-0. It wasn't easy in the end. We rode our luck and thankfully it worked out. Billy Allen was absolutely superb today, by far his career standout game. What a finish for the second goal and what an important win."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UEFA Champions League-Semi Final 2nd Leg-Wednesday 10th May 2023
FC Barcelona (P.Alcacer) 1 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (F.Thauvin & M.Rojas) 2
Camp Nou
Crowd: 72,217

Ty Stedman-"This is our greatest victory. Make no doubt about it. To be 1-0 down to Barcelona and come from behind just tells a story about the belief we have this season. Florian's goal gave us a lot of hope but we wanted more, we wanted to seal our fate and we did just that.

Marco Rojas hasn't had his best season by his standard and it was only his second goal of the year. I'm not sure how it ended up going in after two or three rebounds. It was a crazy moment and one that sends us to the pinnacle of European club football. Unbelievable."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Premier League-Matchday 36-Saturday 13th May 2023
GRIMSBY TOWN (L.Rose & E.Turner) 2 def. AFC Bournemouth 0
Blundell Park
Crowd: 9,051 (SOLD OUT)

Ty Stedman-"It's a key win for us today. Our last game at home for the season and we've taken the chance to heap more pressure on United and Arsenal. Bournemouth are bottom of the league and heading for relegation so we were aiming to leave here with the three points.

Obviously we had to rest a few players from the midweek game but our depth is strong and guys like Elliot Turner and Liam Rose proved just that today. We've got Chelsea midweek that will essentially make or break our title hopes but our confidence is sky high."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PART 97: Grimsby Career Mode-FIFA 17

UEFA Champions League-Quarter Final 2nd Leg-Weds. 19th April 2023
Grimsby Town 0 def by. ARSENAL (F.Cervi) 1
GRIMSBY TOWN Progress 3-1 on Aggregate
KCOM Stadium, Hull
Crowd: 24,956

Ty Stedman-"Well that was the greatest loss in the club's history. Jokes aside, we knew we couldn't afford to let Arsenal get the early advantage. Our job was simple, we didn't need to go out there and bang in any more goals. We needed to hold onto what we had and when Arsenal did eventually score, it was too little, too late.

The job was done in the first leg and now we head to the Semi Finals against Barcelona. We never saw this coming but now that we're here, it's simple. We just go for it and see what we can do. Not many gave us a chance to get out of the Group Stage so to be in the final four is a huge moment for us."

The Emirates FA Cup-Semi Final-Saturday 22nd April 2023
Grimsby Town 0 def by. WATFORD (Kenedy x2 & R.Morales) 3
Wembley Stadium
Crowd: 86,523

Ty Stedman-"No I wouldn't call Watford our bogey team. They've been a solid side for six or seven years now. The team they have is one of the best in that club's history and today they proved why they're in the top six at the moment. We were blasted off the park in what was one of the most one-sided first half displays I've seen.

Our gameplan was undone, ripped apart and we were no match. It's not as heartbreaking as the first time this happened five years ago because we weren't in this one today up till full time. We were well beaten and the positive is we're still alive in Europe and indeed the Premier League title race. I'm sorry to our fans who once again showed up in huge numbers."

Premier League-Matchday 33-Wednesday 26th April 2023
Brighton & Hove Albion 0 def by. GRIMSBY TOWN (M.Rojas, M.Odegaard & Oscar) 3
AMEX Stadium
Crowd: 24,295

Ty Stedman-"It was always going to be difficult to back up after another cup exit on the weekend. We came here tonight knowing we needed to produce the sort of football that saw us blast Brighton last time we played them. They're struggling at the moment which is unfortunate and we punished some mistakes again tonight.

I'm always praising our depth and it was all about them tonight. Marco Rojas strolled through their defence early on and put us in the ascendancy straight away. We didn't look back and on another day we could have scored six or seven again. I feel for the Brighton fans. They'll unfortunately be relegated."

Premier League-Matchday 34-Saturday 29th April 2023
Grimsby Town (M.Dembele-PEN) 1 def by. TOTTENHAM (L.Tousart & R.Civelek) 2
Blundell Park
Crowd: 9,051 (SOLD OUT)

Ty Stedman-"There can't be any complaints about the way we lost. We were outplayed on the day but it could be a very costly loss in the title race. We came into this game expecting a challenge and that's exactly what we got. There's not much else you can do about it.

Arsenal move above us but we'll stay focused on the games ahead. They have United on the final day so it's all still to play for. We can only beat what is in front of us and we weren't good enough to do that today, despite taking the lead from the spot."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
