PREVIEW: Zone Football League Round 13's ZPL Match of the Round
Mayfield United (3rd) v Beresfield United (1st)
Last Time They Met: Beresfield Utd 5-2 Mayfield Utd

It's do or die for Mayfield United's minor premiership hopes on Saturday as they host top of the table Beresfield United at Mayfield Park. The Tigers aren't in the best of form as of late but bounced back to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Barnsley last weekend.

Beresfield United on the other hand are in untouchable form after seeing off a quality University outfit not once but twice over the past week. The Eagles are flying high towards the premiership and I hear nothing but positive news about this club, week in week out. I think it'll be another Beresfield win on Saturday as they look to move closer to the title.

My Tip: Mayfield United 1-3 Beresfield United

Swansea F.C (5th) v Cardiff City (2nd)
Last Time They Met: Cardiff 1-1 Swansea

No it's not the Welsh derby, it's Swansea v Cardiff, the Australian version. These sides are in decent form as of late, especially the Swans and considering they drew 1-1 last time they met, this could be another close one. Cardiff though are coming off a loss to the Suns on the weekend.

I haven't given Swansea too much credit but they certainly deserve a bit for their recent form. Two straight wins over New Lambton has seen Swansea boost their finals hopes and sitting dangerously in fifth position anything could still happen for them this season. In fact, a win on Saturday could lift them as far as 2nd. Swansea's my tip in this one.

My Tip: Swansea 2-0 Cardiff

University F.C (4th) v New Lambton Eagles (6th)
Last Time They Met: New Lambton 2-4 University

Both these teams are in dire need of a win so this promises to be an entertaining match-up between two desperate sides. The University will be happy to see the back end of Beresfield after losing twice to the ladder-leaders in the space of a few days.

New Lambton on the other hand have been out of form as of late, losing to the Suns and losing twice to in-form Swansea FC. If the Eagles lose this one they may find themselves up to seven points outside the top four with only five games remaining. It's a crucial time for the defending premiers.

Uni have a good record at home this season and considering they beat New Lambton in the reverse game I think they'll get the job done on Saturday.

My Tip: University 3-1 New Lambton

Newcastle Suns (7th) v Dudley-Redhead (8th)
Last Time They Met: Dudley-Redhead 2-6 Newcastle Suns

More finals hopes could go down the drain when the Newcastle Suns host Dudley-Redhead. I think it's definitely do-or-die for Dudley's already-slim hopes and considering the Suns are coming off a win and put six past Dudley earlier this season, I think the team in white and black could struggle on the weekend.

My Tip: Suns 3-2 Dudley

Garden Suburb (9th) v Barnsley F.C (10th)
Last Time They Met: Barnsley 2-2 Garden Suburb

If I had a dollar for every time I wrote the words do-or-die. Garden Suburb's recent revival came to a halt last week when they were held to a 2-2 draw by Dudley-Redhead and if they want to play finals football and complete a fairytale rise to the top four, they must win against Barnsley.

Now the Bulldogs have had an absolute shocker this season but their lone point of the season was deserved and it came in a 2-2 draw with Garden Suburb. I can't see Barnsley avoiding the drop but a win against the Kingfishers will give them some small hope. I think it'll be Garden Suburb who win this game though.

My Tip: Garden Suburb 4-1 Barnsley

///---------------------------------------///'s ZL1 Match of the Round
Stockton Sharks (4th) v Cooks Hill United (3rd)
Last Time They Met: Cooks Hill 2-0 Stockton

It was hard to pick between this game and the Warners Bay v Jesmond game for Match of the Round but I've made my choice. Cooks Hill have been shaky at best as of late and have seen their premiership-chase come to a halt, not to mention their promotion-hopes (if they can be promoted to the ZPL considering their place in the New-FM 1st Division.)

Stockton on the other hand beat Jesmond on the weekend to re-enter the top four and will like their chances at home against an out-of-form Cookers. The Sharks lost this game 2-0 earlier this season but I like their chances here of picking up a draw, maybe even a win. The draw was the first thought though.

My Tip: Stockton 2-2 Cooks Hill

Westlakes Wildcats (10th) v Morisset United (1st)
Last Time They Met: Morisset United 5-0 Westlakes Wildcats

If I had to be brutally honest, I didn't think Westlakes would win a game this season. They proved me wrong and scored a major upset against Cooks Hill United not too long ago. Recent form though for the Wildcats hasn't been pretty and I do not like their chances against the ladder-leaders.

Morisset United won the catch-up game against Cooks Hill last week and play Jesmond tomorrow night. This is a game they should win and they won it well last time. Morisset all the way here.

My Tip: Westlakes 1-5 Morisset

Beresfield F.C (8th) v Kotara South (2nd)
Last Time They Met: Kotara South 4-3 Beresfield F.C

Kotara South are in some very good form as of late and despite Beresfield picking up a point against Cooks Hill in a 2-2 draw last week, I can only really see this one going the way of the Tigers. The minor premiership isn't exactly out of reach as long as Kotara South keep on winning.

My Tip: Beresfield 1-3 Kotara South

Charlestown (7th) v Nelson Bay (9th)
Last Time They Met: Nelson Bay 1-6 Charlestown

Charlestown are sitting six points outside the top four with six games remaining the Hammers need to keep winning. After beating strugglers Nelson Bay 6-1 on the road earlier this season, smart money would say that Charlestown will most likely win this one as well. The win over Warners Bay mid-week gave them confidence going into this one. It could get ugly.

My Tip: Charlestown 5-2 Nelson Bay

Warners Bay (6th) v Jesmond F.C (5th)
Last Time They Met: Jesmond 2-0 Warners Bay

This promises to be an entertaining match up and definitely a crucial one at that as two teams chasing finals football collide. Both teams will go into this game on the back end of a loss so that adds even more intrigue to the match. As for my prediction I was going to go with the home side but considering they lost at home mid-week I may just go with Jesmond. A draw wouldn't suit either team so I'm sure both will be firing on all cylinders.

My Tip: Warners Bay 1-2 Jesmond F.C

///---------------------------------------///'s ZL2 Match of the Round
Hunter Simba (4th) v Raymond Terrace (1st)
Last Time They Met: Raymond Terrace 2-2 Hunter Simba

The high-flying Raymond Terrace side have won 11 from 12 games this season. Their lone draw of the campaign came back in Round 4 against you guessed it...Hunter Simba. The Tighes Hill-based Simba recorded a very decent 2-2 draw when these sides met earlier in the season and will be keen to trouble the ladder-leaders on Saturday afternoon.

The Rangers have been in superb form and put Hamilton to the sword last weekend just down the road from this Saturday's venue at Islington Park. Simba have a strong home support and won't be easybeats but I can't go past the Terrace at the moment. There flying too high to tip against.

My Tip: Hunter Simba 1-3 Raymond Terrace

Tenambit (10th) v Medowie (5th)
Last Time They Met: Medowie 4-2 Tenambit

Tenambit could have gone a long way towards avoid possible relegation had they of produced a result or two in their back-to-back games against fellow strugglers Kurri Kurri. Now the Sharks go into this game against a decent Medowie side still bottom of the table and in need of a win. Unfortunately for the Sharks, I think Medowie will win this one as they look to re-enter the top four.

My Tip: Tenambit 1-3 Medowie

Muswellbrook (9th) v University (2nd)
Last Time They Met: University 3-0 Muswellbrook

The University ZL2 side were hot on the tails of ladder-leaders Raymond Terrace until they slipped up mid-week in a 3-3 draw with lowly Kurri Kurri. That result followed a shaky 2-1 win over Merewether were the Uni stumbled over the line. They'll need to be very careful against a desperate Muswellbrook outfit but I think the Uni are good enough to get the win here.

My Tip: Muswellbrook 0-2 University

Maryland-Fletcher (6th) v Hamilton Olympic (3rd)
Last Time They Met: Hamilton 3-2 Maryland-Fletcher

Maryland-Fletcher might have undergone a renaming in the pre-season and a change of logo but the Bulldogs are heading for the same uninspiring mid-table finish they recorded in 2014, in fact, if they can't start stringing some wins together, they'll fail to reach the 16 points they finished on last season.

Hamilton were outplayed by ladder-leading Raymond Terrace last week and they'll no doubt be keen to return to the winners' circle. It won't be easy but I'm going with Olympic in this match.

My Tip: Maryland-Fletcher 1-2 Hamilton Olympic

///------------------------------------------///'s ZL3 Match of the round
Dudley-Redhead (1st) v RAAF Williamtown (4th)
Last Time They Met: RAAF Williamtown 1-4 Dudley-Redhead

Dudley-Redhead need to keep winning to keep their promotion-chase in tact although their opponents on Saturday, the RAAF side, are very dangerous to say the very least. The RAAF destroyed Jesmond over two games last week and look in some very good form. They went down 4-1 to Dudley last time these sides met and whilst I think the home side will do the double, I can't see it being such a big margin this time round.

My Tip: Dudley 2-1 RAAF

New Lambton F.C (2nd) v Abermain Rams (8th)
Last Time They Met: Yet To Meet In 2015

New Lambton are hot on the tails of ladder-leaders Dudley and really should be too classy for a struggling Abermain side on the weekend. These sides meet again on Wednesday night at Abermain so it could be a crucial six-pointer for the 2nd-placed side.

My Tip: New Lambton 4-1 Abermain

Jesmond F.C (9th) v Wallsend F.C (3rd)
Last Time They Met: Wallsend 7-2 Jesmond

Jesmond F.C just do not have what it takes to compete in this grade. Whether that be due to a lack of numbers or whatever I don't know but I think they'll be on the end of another defeat this weekend. Wallsend are still a chance of the minor premiership so they'll be keen to not drop any points here.

My Tip: Jesmond 1-7 Wallsend

Edgeworth (6th) v Mayfield United Jr. (7th)
Last Time They Met: Mayfield 2-2 Edgeworth

Neither of these sides have achieved too much this season so it's not exactly a glamour clash at Edgeworth on Sunday but it's one I think the home side will be keen to win after only drawing with Mayfield last time out. There's not too much else I can say about this one. Edgeworth by two.

My Tip: Edgeworth 3-1 Mayfield
