PREVIEW: Mid-Week New-FM Games

1st Grade: Wallsend F.C (3rd) v Valentine F.C (2nd)
Kickoff: Wednesday 22/7 7:45pm
Last Time They Met: Valentine 2-1 Wallsend

I may head out to The Gardens tonight to watch this one as the result will no doubt go a long way towards determining if Valentine are indeed the team who get promoted from the New-FM 1st Division into the Northern NSW National Premier Leagues next season.

Wallsend's amazing season and amazing title chase fell to pieces with three or so consecutive losses however the Red Devils did manage to bounce back last week with a 3-2 victory over Singleton. Whether they can do the same against promotion-favourites Valentine is yet to be seen.

I caught the majority of Valentine's 4-0 win over Lake Macquarie City last week and I was very impressed with the quality they showed that day. The Phoenix will know how important tonight's game is and I think they can get the better of Wallsend if they play like they did at Macquarie Field last Sunday.

My Tip: Wallsend 1-3 Valentine

Under 23's: Wallsend F.C (8th) v Valentine F.C (1st)
Kickoff: Wednesday 22/7 6:00pm
Last Time They Met: Valentine 5-1 Wallsend

A victory tonight would seal the minor premiership for Valentine and considering the good form they are in, a betting man like myself would certainly not bet against them. They brushed Lakes aside 6-0 last weekend and if they play in a similar fashion tonight, they'll have no trouble overcoming mid-table Wallsend.

My Tip: Wallsend 0-4 Valentine

Under 19's: Wallsend F.C (9th) v Valentine F.C (2nd)
Kickoff: Thursday 23/7 7:45pm
Last Time They Met: Valentine 3-1 Wallsend

Valentine's Under 19's were stunned by Lakes last week. There's no denying they were smashed for seven by the rampaging Roosters at Macquarie Field. I have a feeling they'll be super keen to bounce back against a not so good Wallsend side and continue their hunt for the minor premiership. It won't be easy but the Phoenix should be winning this one.

My Tip: Wallsend 1-3 Valentine

Under 17's: Wallsend F.C (4th) v Valentine F.C (9th)
Kickoff: Thursday 23/7 6:00pm
Last Time They Met: Valentine 1-2 Wallsend

A win for Wallsend's Under 17's tomorrow night would go a long way towards securing a finals spot and considering the form they are in and the form Singleton are in, I'd consider their chances of victory very high in this one. This Wallsend side is a very disciplined one with some decent quality players.

My Tip: Wallsend 4-1 Singleton

1st Grade: Thornton Redbacks (8th) v Singleton (6th)
Kickoff: Wednesday 22/7 7:45pm
Last Time They Met: Singleton 5-0 Thornton

Last time Thornton met Singleton they were on the back end of a horror 5-0 loss at Howe Park. I'm confident the match will be closer this time round as two mid-table sides look to build some form going into the final weeks of the season. The Redbacks are a steely side and don't lose games easily so if Singleton want to win, they'll need to produce the goods.

The Strikers are still a slim hope of making the finals but a win tonight is critical. I'm going to back them to get the job done.

My Tip: Thornton 1-2 Singleton

Under 23's: Thornton Redbacks (4th) v Singleton (9th)
Kickoff: Wednesday 22/7 6:00pm
Last Time They Met: Singleton 0-2 Thornton

Singleton's Under 23's haven't been that impressive this season and I'm not quiet sure I like their chances against a Thornton side that will be looking to go a long way towards securing a finals spot with a victory tonight. The Redbacks won the away match earlier in the season and I'm going to back them to get the job done at Thornton Park tonight.

My Tip: Thornton 3-1 Singleton
