PREVIEW: Zone Football League Round 11

It may be a tad pointless writing all the previews for the Zone Football League this week with some not so nice weather forecast to hit on Thursday and Friday. First up before Round 11 begins is an important Zone League One catch-up game between Cooks Hill and Kotara South.

I may actually be able to make this one as I'll be in the area. Anyway it's a crucial game for both sides as Cooks Hill chase top spot on the table and the visiting Tigers chase a spot in the top four. This is a game neither team can afford to lose going into the second half of the season.

Looking at recent form I'm going to have to back the home side. Kotara South haven't been convincing as of late and the Cookers have been very decent so far in 2015.

My Tip: Cooks Hill 3-1 Kotara South

Now back to my normal format for the Zone Football League.

Swansea F.C (6th) v New Lambton Eagles (4th)

New Lambton will be looking to consolidate a spot inside the top four but this game will certainly not be a walk in the park for the defending Premiers. Swansea stunned Mayfield two weeks ago and got over the line against Barnsley last time out so they will have a bit of confidence going into this one. Still, I think New Lambton will be the stronger side on the day.

My Tip: Swansea 1-3 New Lambton

Mayfield United (2nd) v Barnsley (10th)

Barnsley were the whipping boys of this competition for the first month and a half but their last two games have certainly not been as one-sided as their earlier fixtures. Mayfield though are a quality side and should be able to win this one at home.

My Tip: Mayfield 4-1 Barnsley

University (3rd) v Beresfield United (1st)

In what could very well be the ZPL match of the round, University will be looking to bounce back into form when they take on the undefeated ladder-leaders at Ray Watt Oval. Beresfield stumbled over the line against the Suns last week so I don't expect them to win this one easily but I do expect them to win. It'll be a tough match for both sides though and a draw wouldn't be unexpected by any means.

My Tip: University 1-2 Beresfield United

Newcastle Suns (8th) v Cardiff City (5th)

It's not an easy one to predict between these two sides looking at recent form. Cardiff have been decent recently and picked up an impressive home win over arch rivals Garden Suburb last week. The Suns on the other hand took leaders Berefield to the absolute limit. I'm liking the draw in this one.

My Tip: Draw 1-1

Garden Suburb (9th) v Dudley-Redhead (7th)

Garden Suburb were outdone in the local derby with Cardiff last week and it's definitely doesn't get any easier this week when Dudley come to town. Dudley-Redhead are building steadily but with a goal difference of 22-22, the team in white and black need to start stringing some results together as the road to finals begins. I'm tipping the visitors in this one.

My Tip: Garden Suburb 1-3 Dudley-Redhead

I've let time get the best of me and considering I have to be up bright and early for the FFA Cup tomorrow I'm just doing score predictions for the ZL1, 2 and 3 games that are still on this weekend. Normal previews and what not will be up next Wednesday.
