PREVIEW: NNSW NPL Round 7

*All games at Magic Park have been postponed until Monday*

1st Grade: Broadmeadow (1st) v Jets Youth (5th)
Kickoff: *Monday 25/5 7pm*

The Jets Youth have managed to pick up three wins from six starts but unless they start proving themselves against top-four caliber sides than I don't see them having too much success this season. They've been beaten by Hamilton and Lambton and were held to a 3-3 draw by struggling South Cardiff. Granted the young Jets won against Weston at Rockwell Automation Park but even that win came from pure luck in what was atrocious conditions at Weston.

Friday nights' game against Magic is not one I can see the Jets Youth winning. Broadmeadow looked a bit out of sorts against South Cardiff in the first half last week and probably deserved to go in one goal down at the break but the second half blitz, led by four goals to Kale Bradbury left the visiting Gunners wondering just how it went so wrong so fast.

The turmoil surrounding the Jets this week and the lack of a real training venue in recent times would have no doubt hindered the Jets youth side. From my understanding they're training at the Speers Point 5-a-side facility and that alone will play a part on how they play. In my opinion training on a synthetic field would not properly prepare you for matches on turf.

Anyway as for my tip I'm going to back the home side. They're at the top of the table for a reason and know how to win games and win games well. If the Jets strike early then they may have a chance but I'm backing the home side.

My Tip: Broadmeadow 3-0 Newcastle Jets Youth

U22's & U19's CANCELLED

I apoligize but my NPL previews won't include the 22's and 19's this week as I've come down with a case of the flu and let's be honest most of the games will probably be off if this rain sticks around.

My tips still include the lower grades and I'll return to my normal format next week. -Cheers

*All Games Postponed Until Sunday

1st Grade: Lambton (6th) v Adamstown (7th)
Kickoff: Sunday 23/5 2:30pm

I'm going to make this one short as I've come down with the flu and would prefer not to spend the day writing previews for games that may not even go ahead at the moment with all this rain we've had today.

Anyway after a disappointing loss to a ten-man Edgeworth last week I'm sure the Jaffas will be able to bounce back against an Adamstown side that hasn't hit great heights in 2015. The Buds won't be a walkover but the Jaffas need to start returning to form that saw them take out the title last season.

My Tip: Lambton 3-1 Adamstown

1st Grade: Maitland (10th) v Charlestown (9th)
Kickoff: Sunday 24/5 2:30pm

I'm not sure how Cooks Square Park will hold up in this rain but if this game does get played on Sunday it will no doubt be classes as a 'six-pointer' in more ways than one. Both these sides need to pick up some points as in my opinion one of these sides will be playing in the New-FM 1st Division next season.

The Jets Youth finishing last would mean no relegation but I can't see that happening so the trap door will certainly be open at the end of 2015 and along with South Cardiff, I think these two are in severe danger of going down at the end of the season.

This is a much more important game for the home side as they're hosting a charity day and at the end of the day it's their home match and they really need to prove they can win a game in the NPL. Charlestown played mid-week and from all reports looked rather lacklustre. I'm tipping Maitland to open their account on Sunday and move ahead of the Blues on the table.

My Tip: Maitland 2-1 Charlestown

1st Grade: Weston (2nd) v Hamilton (3rd)
Kickoff: Sunday 24/5 2:30pm

This in my opinion is the Match of the Round as Weston host Hamilton in a clash that will put the Bears on top of the table as Magic's game is now being played on Monday night. The Bears have picked up back to back wins albeit over struggling Charlestown and Maitland so this will no doubt be a tough test.

Olympic could only draw with the Jaffas during the week and travelling out to Rockwell Automation Park is never easy. I'm going to go out on a limb and tip the home side to get the job done. Looking at form I'd favour the draw but being a Weston home game I can see them getting over the line.

My Tip: Weston 2-1 Hamilton

1st Grade: South Cardiff (8th) v Edgeworth (4th)
Kickoff: Sunday 24/5 2:30pm

It will no doubt be a tough test for the Gunners as they face 4th-placed Edgeworth on what will be an emotional day at Ulinga Oval after losing one of their longtime players/supporter during the week. Full credit to the boys from South Cardiff for what was an important mid-week win over Charlestown.

Whether or not the Gunners can get the points on the weekend is a tough question but make no doubt they'll take the game to Edgeworth and put on a proud display. Still, I can't tip against the Eagles here. Their spot in the top four can be consolidated with a win on Sunday and they should be good enough to get the job done.

My Tip: South Cardiff 2-4 Edgeworth
