RESULTS: EPL Matchday 31

Performance of the Week:

How could I possibly go past Arsenal for the performance of the week. I watched the first half of their 4-1 win over Liverpool and the goals were simply amazing. The quality of Arsenal was on show from the get-go as Liverpool struggled to get any sort of momentum going.

City Stumble Again:

I tipped a draw for this one so it's no surprise to see City not picking up all three points but losing another game on the road is simply not good enough for a side that were still in the title race. Surely City's title hopes are over now after this latest slip-up. A good win though for Crystal Palace.

Bits and Pieces:

-Leicester City needed a win over West Ham to keep their slim hopes of staying up alive and they did so. They'll need to build on that next week and beyond though.

-Burnley also picked up a big result, holding Tottenham to a scoreless draw at home. The bad news for the Clarets though is that of Sunderland's 1-0 win over Newcastle. Burnley are still in the relegation zone but Villa and Hull are within touching distance. Burnley have to play the Tigers in the second-last week of the season so there is potential to stay up but they'll need to keep picking up results and it gets no easier with Arsenal visiting Turf Moor next week.

-In some Football League news, I was happy to hear of AFC Bournemouth's 4-2 comeback win over Birmingham City. It'd be quite a sight to see the Cherries in the top-flight and at the moment it's looking like a real possibility.

-At the other end of the table, it's sad to see Blackpool's fate be sealed by Rotherham's win on the weekend. The owners should hang their heads in shame. I don't have all the details but everyone I look people are complaining about the Oyston's. The fact is Blackpool aren't a side that should be playing in League One. I feel for their fans. Hopefully they'll turn it around next year.
