PREVIEW: A-League Round 27

Thanks for the support on Facebook. The Newysports.com page is now up to 169 likes and climbing more each day. The support is hugely appreciated.

It's been a very long season in the A-League and it's coming to an end this weekend as Round 27 closes out the regular season and leads into the finals next weekend. Brisbane Roar clash with the Newcastle Jets on Friday night at Suncorp Stadium.

I can tell you from experience that this season has been the worst in the history of the Newcastle Jets and I'm sure everyone involved will be happy to see the back-end of the 2014/15 season. They can end it on a high-note with a third-straight away win on the road in Queensland.

I'm not sure what team the Roar will put on the field on Friday night but considering it's the last game before finals, you'd think they'd want to work on combinations and field a full-strength line-up in what is their final home game of the season.

The Jets put on a proud display against Sydney FC last week but it doesn't give me enough confidence to back them against Brisbane. It won't be a walkover but I think Brisbane will get the points here.

My Tip: Brisbane Roar 2-1 Newcastle Jets

Two teams that will be delighted to see the end of the season are the Western Sydney Wanderers and Perth Glory. The Wanderers never got going this season and no doubt their Asian Champions League/World Club Cup campaign played a major part in that but even that can't take away all of the blame for what has been a lackluster season in Wanderland.

Perth on the other hand were flying high for the majority of the season before the salary cap scandal brought them crashing down to Earth and leaving them constricted to seventh position regardless of where they finish on the table.

Perth will no doubt want to end the season is style but the Wanderers have much more riding on this result. A loss here would potentially see them collect the dreaded wooden spoon, depending on Friday's results of course.

I'm backing the Wanderers here to get the job done in front of their home faithful on ANZAC Day.

My Tip: Western Sydney 1-0 Perth Glory

*Ignore the Round number in the graphic. It's Round 27

Two teams bound for the finals will meet on Saturday night when Adelaide United host Melbourne City at Coopers Stadium or Hindmarsh Stadium for you traditionalists. This is very well a finals preview as depending on other results these sides will meet next weekend at the same venue.

Anyway this week is the important thing at the moment and the news that Jacob Melling is out injured will hinder the visitors' chances. Melling has been one of the best rising stars in the A-League this season and will be a big out going into the finals series.

Adelaide will be fired up and ready to perform in front of a big ANZAC Day crowd. I'm expecting the Reds to get the job done here.

My Tip: Adelaide United 2-0 Melbourne City
