Performance of the Week:

Without a doubt my performance of the week would go to the Seattle Sounders who pulled off an impressive 3-0 win over last season's MLS Cup finalists New England Revolution. The green machine was in full order as the defending Supporter Shield holders got their season off to a perfect start.

Orlando City v New York City

The only televised game here in Australia was the opening round match-up between the two MLS newcomers, Orlando City and New York City. How good was it to see upwards of 62,000 people fill the Citrus Bowl for a domestic soccer match. Congratulations to the City of Orlando who look to be right behind this team as they take the step into the big times.

Personally I enjoyed seeing Kaka come up against David Villa. The former saving his side at the death from certain defeat with a somewhat lucky deflected free kick. It's crazy to think that in a few months time Frank Lampard will be joining Villa at Yankee Stadium. As a Man City fan I'm putting my support behind NYCFC.

All in all I still can't get over just how impressive that crowd really was. I know they won't get that crowd every week but to put it into perspective, they got as many people through the gate as the 2014 average for the Pittsburgh Steelers. They actually got more than the average of nearby NFL side Tampa Bay.

Top job by both teams and hopefully both can achieve some success in their inaugural season.
