2015 NRL Tips-Round 4

2015 NRL Tips-Round 4

The live game on Nine tonight sees Parramatta host South Sydney. The Eels are coming off the back of a horror outing last weekend in New Zealand and it gets no easier with the undefeated defending Premiers making the trip west to Parramatta tonight.

The Rabbitohs have looked like the best team in the competition so far this season and although they struggled a little against Wests Tigers last week, they are the deserved favourites in tonight's game. Parramatta are in a bit of an injury crisis and I can see them struggling tonight.

South Sydney should be too good and will most likely be too good for Parramatta.

My Tip: Parramatta 12-32 South Sydney

The other game tonight between Wests Tigers and the Bulldogs will no doubt be a very physical clash. The Tigers proved themselves a bit last week and impressed many with their physicality. Martin Taupau was at the forefront and against his former team he'll no doubt be in the wars again.

The Tigers will be without Aaron Woods and whilst I do think their forwards will be physical, I just can't see them matching it with the massive Bulldogs pack. I'm backing the Bulldogs but would love to see the Tigers get up. I think it'll be a close game with the Dogs maybe getting one or two late tries.

My Tip: Wests Tigers 12-26 Canterbury-Bankstown

Saturday kicks off with a top four clash between the unbeaten Knights and the in-form Panthers. Yes the Panthers were beaten by the Roosters on Monday but I think they're a genuine contender for Premiership this season. They've got a very exciting team. Matt Moylan is in my opinion one of the best up and coming players in the NRL and could very well get the Dally M with a big season.

Anyway onto this game. The Knights have proven themselves as a team that don't want to lose. They don't give in and can never be written off. This week I am going to go against the Knights. Despite the absence of James Segeyaro I think the Panthers will get another win this week.

My Tip: Newcastle 18-22 Panthers

I think Gordon Tallis said last night on the Footy Show that this game would put people to sleep and I for one will most likely be watching some else over this. It's not a must-watch game but it's a crucial game for both teams. They're both winless and need to grab a win to kickstart their season.

The Titans to be fair have done a lot better than I thought they would after the pre-season from hell. The Sharks on the other hand have been disappointing but I'm tipping them to turn it around on Saturday and open their account for 2015 with a win over the Gold Coast.

My Tip: Cronulla 24-10 Gold Coast

Manly return to Wollongong for the first time in four years and they haven't won their in the last three games. The Dragons have won 8 of 11 home games against Manly since their merger in 1999 and seem to enjoy upsetting the Sea Eagles at home.

This Saturday I'm going with the visitors to get the win. Not just because I'm a Manly member but because I think the Dragons just aren't convincing at the moment. It's one thing to beat Canberra, it's another to beat a hungry Manly team that need a win to move up the ladder.

My Tip: St. George-Illawarra 8-18 Manly-Warringah

The first game on Sunday is at a special time of 12pm AEDT on Nine before the ICC World Cup Final. The Warriors are hosting the Broncos in what is a rare game for the Kiwis on the Nine Network, although I can't say the same about Brisbane.

Onto the actual game and I can see this one being a high-scoring affair but I can't go past the Warriors in New Zealand. They're a very hard team to tip as you never know what Warriors team will show up but on such a big day for New Zealand sport I can't go past them.

My Tip: New Zealand 36-22 Brisbane

The later game on Sunday sees the Roosters host the Raiders at Allianz Stadium. This could very well turn out to be the most one-sided match of the round as it's been a tight round so far scorewise (I'm writing this on Saturday night).

In a simple world the Roosters would be too good here. But it's the NRL and sometimes upsets do happen but I just can't see it happening. The Raiders gave up an 18-0 lead to the Dragons last week and any team that does that shouldn't be considered much chance of beating the Sydney Roosters.

My Tip: Sydney Roosters 32-6 Canberra

Monday night games are normally boring affairs between two lower-ranked teams but after the Roosters-Panthers clash last week, the last game of the round is another potential game of the round as the Cowboys host the Storm in Townsville.

Normally this game would steal the show but the Cowboys have been severely lacking so far in 2015. The Storm on the other hand have shown some glimpses, especially last week against the Sharks.

As for my tip I, like a lot of people, am going to give the Cowboys one last chance. They need to win this game. Losing your first three home games is not a good look and surely they've got to pick up some points sooner or later.

My Tip: North Queensland 24-16 Melbourne
