2014/15 A-League Round 22 Tips

A-League Tips-Round 22

Round 22 kicks off at Allianz Stadium when Sydney F.C host Melbourne City. City can give their finals hopes a massive boost with an upset win but it's the Sky Blues who go into this match as the favourites.

Last week's 5-4 victory over Brisbane was one of the craziest A-League games you'll see and I'm sure Graham Arnold's men will be a lot more disciplined in defence. It's a real problem Sydney have and they can't keep conceding easy goals going into the finals. Expect a Sky Blue win and expect one or two from Marc Janko.

My Tip: Sydney FC 3-1 Melbourne City

The wooden spoon is potentially on the line as the Western Sydney Wanderers host the Newcastle Jets. I can tell you personally as a Jets fan that my confidence is as low as it's ever been. I can't see the Wanderers letting this game slip from their grasp. They've drawn twice with the struggling Jets this season and surely they won't won't to make it three from three.

The Jets are awful at the moment. They are in absolute freefall after last week's 4-0 defeat to Melbourne City and I can't really see them getting anything out of this game.

My Tip: Western Sydney 2-0 Newcastle Jets

Arguably the A-League's most entertaining derby, these two arch rivals have always managed to put on a great game every time they meet. This time should be no different with Victory seeking to continue their good form and keep themselves firmly in the race for the Premiership.

Adelaide on the other hand are also locked in the race for the top spot but their immediate focus would be securing a spot in the top four. They are the favourites for this game and are coming off a good win over the Mariners last Thursday. This one I think will be highly competitive from both sides but I personally think Victory will sneak over the line.

My Tip: Adelaide United 1-2 Melbourne Victory

Perth are a team desperate for a win after letting top spot on the table go in last week's loss to the Wellington Phoenix. The situation is starting to spiral out of control as the Glory have not won a game since January 2nd (eight games ago) against the Victory.

The Mariners haven't had the best season and aren't really in the finals picture anymore. I think Perth's got a lot more to lose on Sunday and that's the main reason I'm backing the Glory to pick up a crucial three points on Sunday.

My Tip: Central Coast 0-1 Perth Glory

The final game of Round 22 sees Brisbane Roar host the league-leading Wellington Phoenix. Brisbane are the favourites to get the win and were part of that crazy 9 goal thriller with Sydney FC last week. It's a hard game to predict but I'm backing Wellington to keep up the pace and keep their spot at the top of the table.

My Tip: Brisbane Roar 1-2 Wellington Phoenix
