2014/15 EPL Tips-Matchday 29

Welcome to my first EPL prediction update here on the blog. I've been keeping  track of my EPL tips for the past couple of months and currently sit at 36 out of 79. Not a very good win ratio but solid nonetheless. It's not easy to predict games like Stoke v West Brom for example whereas Chelsea v QPR would normally only have the one outcome.

Anyway the EPL is back after a few days off due to the FA Cup but now it's back just in time for Matchday 29 out of 38. Not long to go now.

The early game on Saturday night (AEDT time) sees Crystal Palace host QPR at Selhurst Park in an all-London affair. Palace have distanced themselves from the drop zone but QPR remain firmly in a relegation battle and are going to need to start winning games if they're are to avoid the drop.

QPR's away form is abysmal with just one away victory all season coming against Sunderland a few weeks ago. I think Palace should be too good here with Alan Pardew bringing a renewed energy into Selhurst Park with his arrival a couple months back.

It shouldn't be a high-scoring affair but I can see Palace getting over the line.

My Tip: Crystal Palace 1-0 QPR

Aston Villa's away form alone is almost enough to make me tip Sunderland but the Black Cats have been out of form and without a win in their last five. Villa are coming off the back of a significant win in the FA Cup as they moved into the Semi Final but backing up from that will be tough.

With that being said I'm going to draw the line down the middle and tip a draw...A 0-0 draw in fact.

My Tip: Sunderland 0-0 Aston Villa

The Baggies missed out on a chance to go to the FA Cup Semi Finals and will now back up with a game against Stoke City. West Brom's home form has been impressive as of late but I can't go past Stoke who have won their last three on the bounce.

With a win here Stoke can move closer to a improbable but not impossible Europa League spot, especially if an underdog can win the FA Cup. Highly unlikely but the Potters will want a fourth straight win nonetheless and I can see them grabbing it at the Hawthornes.

My Tip: West Brom 0-1 Stoke City

This game is pretty simple; Leicester City must win. They have to win if they're to keep their relegation fears at bay. The Foxes are already in a massive ditch as it is and if they can't beat Hull then in my opinion they'll be playing in the Championship next season.

Hull City on the other hand can move a bit further towards safety with a win but I'll go for Leicester here. Only because they are fighting an uphill relegation battle and will surely be fired up for a big game.

My Tip: Leicester City 1-0 Hull City

Arsenal are heavy favourites here and for good reason. They need to keep winning to keep their Champions League qualification hopes alive. A loss here would do severe damage if Liverpool win their match this weekend so I can't realistically see anything but an Arsenal win here.

Of course football isn't always predictable but the Hammers have a mountain to climb at the Emirates tonight. Gunners for the win is my call. In style as well.

My Tip: Arsenal 3-0 West Ham United

I don't really need to say why I think Manchester City will win this one. For those who don't know me personally I am a City fan but even if I wasn't I couldn't see Burnley pulling off the unthinkable here. City need a win to keep their title hopes alive and I think they'll get the three points at Turf Moor and leave Burnley in further relegation trouble.

My Tip: Burnley 0-4 Manchester City

I'm writing this on Sunday night Australian time and after seeing City drop three crucial points at Burnley last night, Chelsea now have a huge chance to all but seal the title if they win both of their two games in hand. That all starts tonight with a crunch game against Southampton.

The Saints have been out of form as of late and a loss here will see them fall further away from a Champions League position. I'm predicting Southampton will put up a good fight but the Blues will want to redeem themselves after the mid-week Champions League heartbreak against PSG. Chelsea for the win.

My Tip: Chelsea 2-0 Southampton

Manchester United's Champions League hopes are not on the line tonight but will take a big hit if they can't get over Tottenham. A loss to Arsenal in the FA Cup was poor from United but it's a different day and Louis Van Gaal's men have to perform or else they'll be playing in the Europa League next year.

Tottenham are still longshots for the UCL and a win here would throw them firmly into contention. This is a crunch game for both sides tonight but I think United should get over the line. Don't bank on it though.

My Tip: Manchester United 2-1 Tottenham

Everton host Newcastle United on Monday morning and need to play themselves back into form or else they'll inch closer to the relegation zone. It's unlikely but Everton aren't exactly clear of the bottom four as it stands. They also have a game in hand over their rivals.

Newcastle on the other hand are a little further up on the table but aren't in form themselves. I can see this game ending as a 0-0 bore draw.

My Tip: Everton 0-0 Newcastle United

*Match is actually at Swansea's Liberty Stadium

The final game of the week sees Liverpool host Swansea City and Brendan Rodgers will be hoping his side can get a win over his former club at Anfield. Liverpool need to keep the pace up and keep their Champions League hopes alive. A win here is crucial and I'm tipping them to get it.

My Tip: Liverpool 2-0 Swansea City
